OK why does the BAe146 need 2 on the back too and the A340 not? or is it a different system that the RAF uses.

I would assume it depends on the dispenser, where the dispenser can be mounted on the airframe, and what kind of patterns the dispenser can dispense.  Some airplanes can make due with a single dispenser, some need multiples.  I don't think there is such a thing as an off the shelf dispenser, I believe they have to be custom designed to fit the airframe in question.

More to the point, if they are DIRCM they don't need to dispence anything. A look at the RAF's (Green) C-130K's shows these nicely... Smiley
