Me and a friend of mine connected our computers together yesterday and did our first multiplayer flight ever in FS2004. We noticed some issues.
1) when we created the flight, we chose the same airport and the same gate: both planes were put in the exact same spot, so one of us had to activate the slew mode and move the plane away.
2) at the gate, on my display, my friend's plane looked suspended above the ground level. On his display, my plane looked buried in the ground (the wheels were not visible).
3) ATC was disabled, and there was no AI traffic.

1)If you start at same airport and same gate of course you will be put in the exact same spot
2)It occasionally happens that you see another MP aircraft below or above the ground, a glitch that everyone( I believe) experiences in MP
3)There is no ATC or AI in FS Multiplayer

Hope I helped Smiley Wink

Just what I dreaded: the no way-no way-no way kind of answer.  Grin

You should have seen the start of the last SimV race!  When the race organiser told everyone to go to the starting location, the pilots all went at the same time and there was a huge mash of planes appearing at the end of the runway!  They were all the same plane too, just different paint jobs, so it looked like the runway was spawning dozens of Extra 300s.  We got it sorted out by slewing left and right until we formed a line (or two) and everybody flew anyway, it's just part of the MP experience  Grin

For the floating, tell your buddy to press y F1 y.  thats Slew on, F1, slew off.  That fixes the problem Wink  ATC?  Get on teamspeak and treat ot as uncontrolled airspace

Why slew at all ?.....just taxi out to a slightly different area and all will be ok.....I frequently do a full 360 and come in behind the "POP-IN" area and off to one side.........or is taxiing too slow ?

What we'd really had hoped to do was a VFR flight from an airfield to another with computer ATC coverage and AI traffic. It's a bit weird that these features are disabled in multiplayer mode. Instead, we flew in a deserted world, just the two of us. Any chance of a plugin to have them?

Oh, and 4)
we had to disable the aircraft collision detection because FS2004 detected collisions when we were flying close to each other. The planes were well separated...

Although it would be lovely to me able to contact ATC during Multiplayer flights with our mates, I suspect that ATC would be constantly sending out warnings of our aircraft flying too close to each other....(Airprox's!).
...which may, or may not be what we want...!!!
LOL... Grin...!

ATC running in Multiplayer flights is an interesting suggestion which I had not thought of before... Wink...!

Cheers all...!
