I searched back 5 pages so hopefully this isnt old news.

Neversoft (tony hawk series) and Activision (Call of duty) have come out with a game called "GUN". Here is the basic idea.

You play the role of Colton White a member of a father son hunting duo prowling the missouri river area seeking big game for the steam boats in 1880. One day while delivering the goods to a passing steamer the boat is ambushed by bandits lead by a mysterious and evil preacher. While fighting off the bandits the father, Ned white, tells you he is not your real father, that these men are after him and something he has on the boat and to go to a brothel in Dodge City called the Alhambra. His only instructions are for you to seek a prostitute named Jenny, she can help explain what he is talking about. Then the ship explodes and your journey into the wild west begins. I wont spoil the story line but there is a lot of brutality and double crossing in your quest for the truth. you make a lot of friends and a hell of a lot of enemies in the process.

I just got through playing the game, the "western" as a video game genre hasnt been too successful, but Gun definately has what it takes. The graphics could be a little bit better but what it lacks in visual quality it more than makes up for in sound and a theater quality story line. on a scale of 1 - 10 i would give gun an 8 overall.

Given the current choices for games out there its nice to see something on the shelf that isnt about steeling cars in LA, or hitting the beaches of normandy for the 18th time this year. Dont get me wrong i love ww2 shooters but an old west shooter with a great story line, awesome character development and fun game play is refreshing.

here is a link to a review and some screens: (in stores now for PC Xbox/XBX360 PlayStation etc.)

I started to play it on the Xbox but got sidetracked by "Destroy all humans", now I've been sidetracked again by "The Warriors" and to a much larger degree "The Movies" on the PC, also have "Age of Empires III" waiting for a go along with "Stronghold 2", I can't begin to tell you what all is in my ever growing Xbox stack waiting to be checked out, "Stubbs the Zombie" just showed up yesterday.
Far too many games and not nearly enough time, it's an awful habit this gaming thing.

"The Movies" is highly addictive if you are into micromanagement type games.
