Is there any way in csf2 to get the gunners on your bomber to shoot at an attacker as the AI bombers do (sometimes)?

Better yet, is there a way, as in the game IL2, to set your bomber on autopilot and control the defensive guns with the mouse?

No, and no.

B24 Guy tried to aim the guns on the bombers but it was a no-go.

I agree with you, you can do that with CFS3.But also recommend for you to keep CFS2 and you be able to enjoy the Sim world a lot more. With CFS2 you can mimic or make many of the historical battles that you will never be able to in other Sims.

You have a world map and you can fly with practicaly every airforce in the World that participated in the war once you learn how to add all the addition adddons offer by this great communitty.

You mean CSF3 won't fly around the world?? Might as well stick with IL2 if I need to shoot back.

Excuse my quizzical entry here but I am a bit lax for CFS2 familiarity. I added rear guns (and observers seat) to a WW1 scout for CFS1. This, of course, meant adding and adjusting the gun in the .dp; I also utilized the "canon" button to act as a seperate control to operate the observers guns. I was actually surprised when I first shot down an assailant on my tail.
Am I to understand that this feature works in CFS1 but not CFS2?

You can have gun entrys so that you can have guns in the positions of the turrets but you cant man them and aim them yourself like in cfs3 and il2.

But each gun can be fix-aimed differently (perhaps an unfair cheat) even though they're in the same position (clustered). My inquiry was whether or not that was possible in CFS2 since I'd expected so?

You can have rear guns in the sense of fixed guns facing backwards. You can even alter your panel views to give you a gun sight when you look backwards (though it does take some calibrating). However it is impossible to jump into a gun turret and to start swinging the thing around shooting aircraft down.

I would also argue with James that what he's saying is not possible in all the CFS series. It's perfectly possible to create historical missions for any part of the world covering any time period between WWI & the Korean War (& possibly beyond that) in CFS1. The fact that it's taken longer for the CFS3 developers to come to grips with it does not change that.

Hadgar you and I are both right and wrong. You are right that in CFS1 and CFS3 you can recreate historical missions all over the World.

But its also true that it will take a lot longer and more work. You need to recreate the maps and you need a dedicated group of dovelopers to do it.

I do not think this CFS3 developing group will ever do a Asia dedicated addon for their Sim. This is just my opinion.

In CFS2 its a lot easier since it already comes with a build in World map ready to to use.

Let me say something CFS2 has a lot of short commings as well like all Sims.

CFS1 and CFS3 are fine Sims. They also have limits and short commings. None is totally better than the other.

CFS2 and CFS3 are totally different Sims. Unlike CFS1 and CFS2. CFS2 in many ways it was a upgrade from CFS1. CFS1 is still a lot of fun to fly and flight in it. I still fly with it when I just want to have fun.

Between them you will have a great World war two flight experience in my opinion.

This is just a opinion

As a matter of fact I just flew two missions last night in two different Theaters within a few minutes.

In one I defended my fleet against Kamikazze planes and in the other one I was flying a Hurricaine over Netherland in May,10 1940.

At this time there is no Sim that will allow me to do that.

You can also fly in many areas of the World with Pacific Fighters/ FB through many small maps. None have the World map and smooth capability and the large amount of planes that Sim offer. That in it self does not make this Sim the best in the Market Sim but its sure is one of the best and more flexibe and enjoyable in the market.

This is just a Opinion.

What James is saying is possible in all CFS versions. I believe I'm right in saying that the entire earth is modelled in CFS1 as the game was beaten out of FS98.

CFS3 is getting there. There is already a Korean Campaign and we're soon to get the Med as well. Once every single CFS3 developer in the world has finished with the Med who knows what they'll do next. Maybe we'll get Norway or Burma or even the Pacific as James seems to so desperately want.

We'll just have to wait and see. Smiley
