Hi,

I have a load of 32 bit repaints of an aircraft and would like to convert them to DXT3. Is there anyway off doing this quickly as the only way i know of is by using DXTBmp and that take a very long time (as you have to open each file individually).

Many Thanks

If you use the mouse it takes time, but if you learn the shortcut keys it only takes a couple of seconds each.  For instance, hitting alt-F <return> will open a 32-bit file.  After the first 4 or 5 times, you learn which keys to press and you don't even think about it any more.

How many files are you talking about?

Mr. Apoo (I love that name . . .) is correct.  The only way to convert currently is to use DXTBmp.  Reason being, there are numerous aircraft that have very detailed alpha channel mappings that have to be added to only one texture.  Soooo . . . you only get one image at a time to work with.  That wasn't too clear, but I hope you understand.

At any rate, I suppose someone could come up with a converter that allows you to simply select the files you want to combine to make a DXT3 texture and let it combine them, but DXTBmp certainly seems to work for most people.

using imagetool allows you to open more than one file at once and I find it to be much quicker,

suggest you look at any of david maltbys models, and read this:

http://www.dmflightsim.co.uk/notes_on_fs_aircraft_files.htm#CONVERTER
