I've tried adding in several new locations into CFS2:  Pearl Harbor, Normandy, the Battle of the Bulge, etc.  Everytime I add in the scenery files, the microsoft stock weapon loadouts disappear--they can't be found in the loadout list and are not on the plane while flying.

As far as I can tell, the only way to get the weapons back is to reinstall the whole game.

I'm running XP Pro on an older machine.  Does anyone know what might be causing this?

Installing addon scenery should not affect the weapons or anything else. Which method are you using to install it? Read my CFS2 Scenery Clinic here. http://www.simviation.com/lair/cfs2scenclinc.htm
This method has always worked for me in all my M$ sims.

I have had this happen on my XP machine.
If you go into the sceneryDB\weapons\scenery folder.  Delete the filelist.dat file. It will be rebuilt on startup.
Then restart the game. Should fix it.

Hope this helps,

B24Guy

Well done B24Guy.

I've never heard that one before & have no idea why it would happen. Just goes to show you learn something new every day.

I've been investigating this a little further...

Some scenery additions (cfsiieurope, nw africa) worked fine on the first try.  I then removed them, deleted the folders, and restarted.  Still nothing wrong.  After reinstalling the additions without doing anything else, I received the "Can't find" weapons message.

It does seem that once the additions are installed and working, they can be enabled and disabled at will without any problem as long as they are not removed entirely.

Pretty baffling....

Ah. That might explain it. Providing it's correctly installed, addon scenery can be temporarily deactivated/reactivated from the Scenery Library at any time. If you wish to remove it permanently delete the appropriate area from the Scenery Library before moving or deleting the scenery files. If you do that I don't think there should be any problems.

Usually,

when you change the scenery library the aircraft you have selected in Free Flight or Quick Combat as your player aircraft will have missing weapons. I have no idea why this happens but, like B24 Guy suggested, Re-start CFS2 and all will be well.

Good Hunting,
Brandon

This still intrigues me as I've never seen it mentioned anywhere before & I thought I knew as much as anyone about CFS2, except for the latest developments. I just got a new PC with WinXP myself so it wll be interesting to find out if I have the problem. I wouldn't expect WinXP to make any difference but if it does happen I at least know how to fix it. Wink
