I'm still working on a set of screenshots of Haneda (RJTT), but it's really tough trying to get my captures under 100kb. First I have to resize them in Picture It 9, and then run them through Microsoft Paint. In the meantime, I got this idea a while back and just had to try it.
Here is JapanScenery's payware vs. real Tokyo. First up is the Toyota Salon building, just outside of Shinjuku:

Next up, Shinjuku:

Next is the famous Ginza shopping district:

And, of course, Shibuya, Tokyo's very own Times Square:

WOW! You're right. How the bleep did that happen?!?
I removed the "ftp" triggers and now it seems to work fine. See if you don't get a day/night combo shot of Shibuya.

Great humourous title, from now on I'm going to think of everything around me as 'realware"!!!
Good idea for a thread too, that blue building is lovely, I've never seen pics of Tokyo before really, it's frightening... makes me think of Neuromancer...
The payware scenery is nice, and looks really cool at night, but where are the rest of the buildings - do you have autogen on low? They could also have provided some roads, maybe... the Japanese are very efficient and don't want to stumble through the mud to the boutique
If you're bored of an evening - and you'll have to be - you can check out my screenshot gallery: Kriglsflightsimscreens

Thanks! "Realware" just kinda popped into my head.
"MegaTokyo" is kinda scary looking, isn't it?
I'll have to check my autogen settings, I don't remember what they are. Some of the freeware that's available from the JapanScenery designers, such as my pal Shige, do have roads for areas like Shibuya. You can find his site (and more preview pictures) here:
http://homepage3.nifty.com/jb/index.htm
However, most of Tokyo is paved, so they (JapanScenery) seem to rely on the satelite-derived ground textures for their roads. You can really see them when viewing from "top-down" mode. For me, the trains are what's really missing. It would be nice to have the trains tracks and even some AI train traffic moving about the country. At least they have the enormous Shibuya Station on there. I'll show that in my next thread.
Glad you guys like the shots!
