I really like my 737 NG but I hate that I need to turn everything down when I fly it to get consistant realistic frame rates. I read that the 800/900 code had been optimised to improve frame rates and I am wondering if it works that way. Any advise here? Would the $29.95 be a worthwhile spend for this expansion or am I better of saving it and putting up with the old 600/700 resource hog?

I've never noticed a framerate hit with the PMDG stuff even with all the goodies turned on, on my old machine. I dont know wether the FR will be any different with the 8/900 as I never noticed a problem before. It's still worthwhile purchasing the package.

I have both and see no difference on either......
Just becareful....If your getting the 800/900 and have the PMDG 747-400 installed it may cause problems.....The 737 series has to all go in "Before" the 747!

Ive not noticed a difference in frame rates with either 737NG basic or the addon 800/900. Both work fine for me

Well, it seems that I have the most frame problems when there is any significant amount of glass instrumentation being presented. Of all the a/c I have the mostly analogue ones give me the best frames. For heavens sake, I already have a 6600 GT and have it clocked to darn near base 6800 levels. Am I going to have to spend $1,000's to get 24 plus consistently on the best of the best if I want it? I may just end up flying 727's and such forever. I just downloaded that newly added ifly 744 and it's a frame hog itself. 15 fps typically. Yet, I can run awesome visual models like Wings of Power war birds at 30. The F1 Meridian runs at 30. In fact, every Flight 1 a/c I own gives good frames and yet they are very detailed. Just some planes that are mostly glass cockpit kill me. Maybe I need more ram. I only have 768 at the moment. Used to have a gig but wife and I separated and I needed that ram to contribute to the PC I built her.

I just recently updated from 800/900 myself. I run an older computer and have noticed a someone increase in framerates as well as load times on this aircraft. Plus the panel looks better now too. Is it worth the $29.95? Well I kinda wished it was a lot cheaper, but id say go for it personally.
Cheers,
RB

If PMDG wanted to do things really good they should have made the 738/9 stand alone and offered upgrade to existing NG owners for like $10 or so. I really wish that guy who did that freeware 737 NG experience could have realized a fully implemented FMC. I know those Asian guys that just realeased that ifly 744 will give payware a run once they get it ironed out. I like a lot of the payware items but I like even more when a talented individual or group does a truly outstanding freeware bird that is neck and neck just as good as it's payware counterparts. I like the idea that some people do this for the joy of creating and the joy of bringing joy to other people above the $ motive. I wish I know code. I would treat a lot of people to a lot of good stuff for for the joy of doing it.
