Hawker Hunter Aviation at Scampton today made this announcement: "HHA were today granted approval by the Civil Aviation Authority Management Committee to operate their BAe Buccaneer Aircraft (G-HHAA / XX885) on the UK civil register. This is the culmination of almost five years worth of effort and in excess of 3250 man hours of design verification work. This does not include any engineering work on the aircraft at all! As such it will be the first Complex category aircraft to fly in UK airspace and is a testament to the excellence of the HHA engineering and operational team. Major overhaul work and lifed component replacement on the aircraft will commence shortly, with a first flight target currently envisaged for 2006."
Excellent news, and I can't wait to see it fly, along with the Vulcan! It seems that the CAA will actually let some aircraft take to the skies!

Excellent.
Things seem to be looking up. Let's hope someone doesn't go & spoil it.

And you just know someone will
The CAA is already plotting against Civil Jet Warbirds with its new restrictions on engine life.

You'd have thought the CAA would be encouraging these things to fly. Lets face it, they pay these people for certificates and so on. fewer planes less money.

CAA = Airliners = Money, not GA or private jets...

Now all we need is a Lightning and we've got a proper airshow.

I expect it will have permission to fly as XX885 without its civil identity. Photos on the page linked above...

I think this will depend if it's left in its military markings. In this case it will probably retain the RAF code.
