Welcome Racers!!!
The opening race in the season is soon to arrive. We hope you all have a good time but first, you've got to know where to go!! So here, Clipper and myself will show you.
1 ) Meet at the active runway at KSFO, with engines OFF please.

2 ) Takeoff from KSFO, on a heading of approximately 340. Once you reach the Stadium, you must fly INSIDE the staduim, passing below the top row of seats to complete obstacle #1, "Catch the Pass".

3 ) Upon leaving the stadium (with the ball Wink), follow a heading of 360 until you reach the Bay Bridge, crossing the bay. Pass under, ensuring that you go through THE GAP NEAREST TO THE ISLAND.

4 ) Turn hard left, heading 270, over to Alcatraz Prison. Perform the "Prison Break", a counter-clockwise barrel roll followed by a clockwise barrel roll.
http://www.simviation.com/yabbuploads/greatrace3

5 ) Now head 250 degrees apx. to the Golden Gate Bridge, where you will perform the "Gold Rush".....flying under the span.
http://www.simviation.com/yabbuploads/greatrace4

6 ) Now bank to heading 220 apx. for what should be the most challenging part of the course..."Hit The Deck".
You must fly just beyond the carrier USS Enterprise, turn and do a t+g on the carriers deck. Good luck with this one!

7 ) Make a dash to KHAF (heading of 150), and "Easy Does It" as you fly inverted over the runway.

8 ) Turn to a heading of 020 and "Climb On Home" over the hills. Head back to KSFO. Follow the heading of 020 until you approach KSFO.

9 ) Once you arrive at KSFO, you come to the final obstacle, "Shoehorn Finale."
T+G on RWY 10R, then climb out into the bay, and make a steep left turn, so you face RWY 28R.

This map shows the procedure at KSFO:

Land on RWY 28R. First one to do so gets 1st place and leads us into the season!

Wow!  Really challenging!  I just ran through it.  A few questions:  1.  By nearest Island on the bay bridge, to you mean the one ALL the way to the right?  2.  For touch and gos, what do you require?  I roled down the carrier, but on rwy10R, I just touched for a second.  3.  DO we have to go out to the bay after tng o rwy 10R?  I touched down near its end, then quickly pulled up, pulled a 180, and landed on 28R DUH!  IT says it right there lol

Here's your answers: You fly past the carrier, turn 180 degrees so you should now be facing downtown San Fran..then you t+g...requires only a touch of 1 second minimum. The fly past and turn back on the carrier is to put everyone in position to head to the next obstacle. The course will take aproximately 23 minutes to complete. The passage through the Bay Bridge is NOT the tiny opening to the far right, but the large passageway a bit more to the left of the rocks..it is clearly illustrated in the course pic. Any further questions? Now's the time to ask racers!  Smiley

So shall we all agree to start with 100% fuel & a pilot  weight of say 170lbs?

Cheers,

Sounds good -

Also - on the Alcatraz manuever - when you say "barrell roll" - do you really mean just an aileron roll each way, or an actual barrell roll each way in which is more of a looping roll as if the wheels were on the inside of a barrell?

Just want to make sure what I do is right.

Thanks- Sean.

Thats what I was complaining about, and what ultimately caused the most problems for me
