the new Clint Eastwood/Steven Spielberg collaboration is moving apace. This looks to be a very promising film. For those of you who dont know it is a film about the Battle of Iwo Jima and the men who raised the flag there. Eastwood also plans to do something unprecedented in movie history. He is going to make a companion film from the Japanese POV of the same battle to be released at the same time called "Lamps in the Wind". Sounds very promising. I just hope that he tells the truth.... Iwo was a brutally horrific, no holds barred, no quarter asked or given, take no prisoners on either side fight that had no real winners.... only survivors.

Clint has certainly come a long way since Rawhide. I like most of his films. I think the bar has been raised for Hollywood war films with Saving Private Ryan and Band of Brothers and I hope these two raise the bar even higher.

This a post I found by Bear99 in the Pacific Fighter Forum.

This is not about the Pacific Fighter program but about this new film about our men who raised outr Flag over Iwo Jimas highest poin and their corauge and sacrifices to maintain our freedom.

What do guys feel about it and what do you think. Will you support Clint Eastwood/Spielberg on this project when it comes out.

You support and opinion is important.

He's posted this in the CFS 2 & 3 forums, well, there the ones I've noticed, and to my eyes are completely "off topic"!  Angry

Posting the same thread in different discussions is to my eyes spam, we do have the Cafe and General Discussion forums also, the Music, Arts & Entertainment forum or should we all post about CFS in there ?

I don't know about you guys, but in the main, I expect to find topics in a CFS forum topic to be just a tad related to the given forum simulator.

I don't think its too much to ask.

Rant over!

What in the World did I do to offend any of you please explain. Do you mean that the only Movies Iam allow to see are the ones that show Americans.

Thats means that I should not have seen the Battle of Britain on DVD the other day because the US was not involved. It was great. Its one of the Ten greatest World war too Movies of all time. But according to you I should not have seen it.

Does it mean the the Movie One Bridge too Far should not been shown in the US.

I believe not.

I think you are to short minded.

You are restricted in your way of thinking.

Have you notice that this program is dedicated to World war two. The more you know about this subject the more intersting program like this may become.

I did not know the British Bomber crew have not gotten a Medal. They deserved it , so did the Marines.
They both save our freedom.

You have got to remember that World war two was fought on a World scale and not just in the Europe.

We have got think out of the Box.

I never thought that a simple post like this one would offend anyone. Thats rediculous.

Iam proud to be a American Citizen and you should respect that like I respect all the other combatant of World war two.

I thought that you Guys where open minded and would like to expand your taste and interest on this program from different views.

I guess I was wrong. Spam is not. Its information that I wanted to share with our members. Thats it!

no offense or anything of the like taken here James... there was a post about this up and coming movie (I think we're talkin' about the same movie) here: http://www.simviation.com/cgi-bin/yabb/YaBB.cgi?board=music;action=display;num=1...

[$0.02]I personally am glad to see a movie about the war in the pacific... I hate when you hear someone talk about WWII and all you here is "Germans", "P-51s", "spitfires", "d-day" you get my drift... WWII was fought on so many fronts... hence the name World War II. When someone talks about the fighting with the Japanese you hear about Pearl Harbor, and Hiroshima... and that's about it...[/$0.02]

Good Hunting,

James, you did'nt offend me, and I don't have a view either way on Films & content, I was just pointing out you'd posted it in the wrong forum - in MY view - perhaps I was a bit blunt (normal for me I'm afraid ) if so, I apologise.

You are absolutely right Corsair Freak. Their are guys who are also addicted to the Pacific Theater only as well.

You understand what I"am talking about. This was the first truely World war and should treated as such.

No Theater was was more important than the other. We had to take care of this problem when evil almost took over the World.

Its was the most terrible Human event in World history. It took the effort of millions of Human from every country in the Free World to defend Humanity from its evil side.

It may sound childish calling the the Nazis and Japanese forces evil. But that was what they where at that time.

We have to keep our vigil not only on others but on our self to keep the evil in all of us under check.

Awesome!  I want to see both movies!

BTW, if you can find it, (big if) try watching Zero!

It's a Japanese movie about WWII from the perspective of the zero fighter and the men who flew it.  Excellent movie, and you'll get a good laugh how the Japanese depicted MacArthur, complete with John Wayne accent, and all.

Dcunning I also saw Ataack Attack and I  El Alamein. They are both Italian Movies.

What about the German movie from a U-Boat prospective. I forgot its name.

There is another movie call Imperial Army from the Japanese Army prespective as well. Check it out.

Their is also a Movie call Stalingrad that gives you what was it like from the German soldier prespective what was it like to fight in the Eastern Front.

What about enemy at the Gate. Now that was different. A Russian view on the war.

Now I do not have to mention the many other movies representing the Americans and British point of view.

I like to see Movies that represent every one point of view of this tragic war.

I hope we do not have to through another one in the Future. God help us.
