Found this link from a member while looking through the FS98 forum out of interest. There's a great video on it professionaly cut together showing moving clips from every FS from FS1 to FS9. It's facinating!!

That's terrific. Reminded me of how excited I was just flying the pattern at Meigs in FS4, in all its stick-figure simplicity, which was the only time I flew a sim until getting FS9.
Suddenly have the urge to turn all my graphics settings way down...

Good lord. Look at us today. Even with today's technological advancements, some of us still whine about the quality of current FS versions. Grin

that was great!!! great movie! great music!!! Cheesy Cheesy

i remember most of those, my first sim was FS4.0 that came in one single floppy disc... then i got FS95, then all of them since

i remeber playing fs4 with my keyboard arrows on a little black and white display 286 laptop...  then when i got FS95 i used to play it on my grandfather's PC (which had a cd drive Shocked), christmas '97 i got my first decent computer (P233mhz) and with it, FS98...

...come to think of it, technically i still use that computer, just ALL of the parts got upgraded.... i still have my old monitor but it's broken (8 years it lasted, good soldier)

now... FS4 was released in 1989... my dad probably got it in 1990, that was probably when i started simming, i'm 20 now, you do the math... Wink

there was no SimV back then...

That takes me back...
my first flight simulator was Sublogic Flight Simulator II for the Commodore 64 (followed by the less realistic Solo Flight). I think it was 1985. Then I didn't use any until the last year.
Looking at those videos, wow, FS3 and FS5 were MAJOR steps forward! Imagine a user laying his hands on FS3... must have looked *awesome*.
FS98 was yesterday morning for me.

Glad you all liked it, my first sim was on the Sinclair Spectrum, not MS I don't think. B&W, no sound block graphics and I was hooked! Must have been 1984-5ish. Just imagine what we'll be flying in 2015!! Shocked

That video was amazing!  It made me think how fast we are advancing, and really truly wonder what FS10 will be.  Will we see something like the jump from 2000 to 2002 with a clear major improvement? Or will it just be like from 2002 to 2004 where it was better, but not much had changed.
