I tried the demo and it was really great, but it really needs a high end machine to run it I think, unless the final game is different from the demo. Still, I ran it on medium settings at 640x480 (yes, that's right) and it still blew me away graphically and gameplay/immersion wise. I would say try the demo and see how it goes....
COD2 DEMO
I'm pretty sure you can download it from here without an account, otherwise just do a search for it...

Played it through, didn't like it. It's the same stuff overandoverandoverandover again. Four soldiers against half of the Wehrmacht.
P.S: The enemy battle chatter is funny 'though.

I was very disappointed with it. Call of Duty + United Offensive are real classics though, and I still play them (only at LANs though).
But the graphics.. BEST I'VE EVER SEEN.. Really, the detail put into the faces of each and every soldier is amazing.

Still perfectly happy with H&D2. The definitive WWII shooter in my opinion.

Didn't realise they'd released Vietcong 2 yet. Hows it compare to the original?

I think its great. Can't convince my coop friends that though. Guess they don't like change and no map SDK yet. Its basicaly VC1 with better graphics/gameplay you will like it. Actually the game play kind of reminds me of cod2 just not as "arcady" to me

Yeah i've had it since release. It is absolutely amazing!
The graphics are the best so far! The atmosphere and gameplay is so intense.
Has anyone played Omaha Beach landing in Vet mode yet? That is solid. I spent most of the time on that mission dieing and spawning, and when i was not doing that i was crawling around on the floor or creeping through the trenchs.
I highly recommend this game to anyone. Multiplayer is awesome. Any of you guys play online? I'm usually on the

Have played the demo, which ran well enough, except when I looked at the awesome smoke! Looks as if it will be even better than CoD(1).

Just about any avaliable to the unpatched version. I tried patching it but I prefered the folks that play without the patch.

Well, COD/COD2 don't even come close to comparing with it. It may be nearly two years old but it's still the best WWII shooter out there.

Sorry Woody, I have to disagree, you really need to play COD / COD2 on a current high end system to see what your missing.

I think you should try H&D2 before you booboo it too much.

It's impossible to compare CoD and H&D. H&D is much more strategy based (controlling 4 men, rather than just one, first person character), whereas CoD is more of an action packed, in your face kind of game.
IMO, they're both great games (at least CoD1, I'm yet to play the full version of CoD2)... you just need to use your head a little more for H&D... not everyone's forte!

COD2 is a stupidly more intense version of COD1, and much less linear. It is a massive improvement over COD1 if there is such a thing.

H & D 2 is fantastic, it feels realistic, great atmosphere, and you actually have a mission to do..unlike COD, where ya just go out an kill!

Well you do have a set target/mission on CoD, and while the atmosphere is good on H&D, the atmosphere in CoD is outstanding. It almost feels as if you are actually there, fighting the war yourself. Much more of an adrenaline filled game, rather than being strategy based.

I played Call of Duty, then United Offensive. Now I'm half way through CoD2 and losing interest fast....
I find the "auto health" to be a thing which needs attention, and still, as I run around shooting and getting shot, the whole game isn't all that much different from the previous ones.....its just another "first person shooter" with better graphics and animations as the technology to present them onscreen, has been improved...... 8)

Sorry matey, I've recently borrowed it off a friend and I've given it (H&D 2) a whirl, frankly, it did'nt sail my ship, not at all.
After being used to "high settings" BF2 & CoD 2, its not surprising, I agree.

Got CoD2 on Thursday and am already half way through it.
Pretty intense, nice graphics but basically a frag fest, mission loads and you start shooting, actually disappointing, no real goals except shot and survive, your AI teammates suck, you can't walk up to a corner to sneak a peak to see what is on other side without them running out into the open area and get the shooting started again.
For just going out and shooting it is great but give it a month before buying and it will be found for under $20
(also dont bother for the directors cut price nothing on it worth the cost)

I just came back from Wal-mart, where they had a xbox360 set up on a lcd with COD2. Playing the demo my jaws just dropped. The graphics are just plain unreal. Looked like I was in a war movie.
When I get my 360 along with my plasma in april I will be getting this game.

Hmm...I felt CoD:II was a great game...
I felt they added a few nice new features, mostly eye candy...
...like how you were in that Russian pipe, and the machine gun opens up on you...
..I was like "WHOA"...
^^^not too many games does that to me
...and btw...I felt that the smoke was the bad part of the graphics, it all looked too much like a 2d photograph
The game play is repetative, but I ended up not playing for the action, but rather the new eye candy that I'm gonna eventually encounter...
...my main concern is for them to fix the weapon recoil...
...feels like a 3 year old is shooting

Managed to get CoD2 working, and I was pleasantly surprised by how well it ran! I kept the default graphics settings (which I presume were optimised for my computer), and it ran well, and looked really good. I've only played 2-3 missions so far, but I sure plan to do a lot more!
It's very much like CoD1, though with slightly better graphics. Recommended if you liked the original

I do also have CoD2, but every time i try to start the MP, it times out
but i have completed CoD2 SP, and i love the 'Hill 400' mission
pretty intense mission! (its a american mission)
i'd say, its the most intense mission of them all...
Cheers Theis
