Morning Racers! Looks like we've got some players! You've all come up with great suggestions for our first "Great race". For this Saturday, I thought I'd leave it up to you racers to "Chose Your Own Weapon" from these four great  Aeroplane Heaven Classics: Seafire, Hurricane, Schmittfire and BF109. available here...http://www.aeroplaneheaven.com/
You must arrive at  WSpilots Oceania (our server for Saturday) in the plane you've chosen, and there is no switching planes allowed once you've arrived. Everyone seems to be comfortable
with 5:00 p.m. GMT Saturday
so as for now that stands.
I'll be contacting the judges shortly for updates (Eno, Krigl, Ecko). I'm most grateful for their offering to help make this day a success. So keep an eye out for "The Course" and "The Rules" which I'll post shortly. I'm sifting through your course and obstacle suggestions,  keep 'em coming!

Please note the change in aircraft options. To keep things as functional as possible, please chose from the above selections. Sorry to disappoint, but we have to make sure the race works.

See you at the races!!

Clipper, I think we need a clarification: Do you mean single engine PISTON planes?  Cause an F-16 has one engine, and would kill a seafire.

---TO EVERYONE PARTICIPATING---

Please post EXACTLY wich plane you're going to use, as Eno, Krigl and I (The judges) need the same planes, so we can correctly see if you complete the obstacles.

Please post it in GOOD time, not 3 hours before the race!!

Please provide link, or a description of where to find it.

Please remember that repaints are essential too, we can't see it unless we have the same repaint. Optimal thing would be NO reapints!

Please not any 30 Mb+ packages (It isnt a problem for me, but I don't know about Krigl and Eno).

It's important that we get this information guys!

Ecko illustrates the point which has always been obvious to me....
Unless everyone agrees to use Microsoft's Default aeroplanes then total confusion will exist... Wink...!

Downloaded aeroplanes, all different types, all different colours, etc, wont appear in their true form, so the Judges cannot identify them correctly in the flurry of activity at the turning points...!
...and remember....none of them will be equipped with racing numbers for identification...!!

...best of luck...Wink...!

P.S.
...and don't forget, because of the different types of aircraft with different powers/speeds, the race has to be a handicap race, with a staggered start.

Before the aircraft participate in the actual race, each aircraft has to be timed over the full course.
Then, in the actual race, the aircraft take off at timed intervals, which results in all the aircraft reaching the finish line together, (almost... Wink...)...!
That way, it is a fair race...!

Hey guys,

Wouldn't it make it more of a challenge if we had to PM the judges our choice of aircraft - that way we couldn't see what anybody else had & go "Oooh thats a good idea, i'll use that aswell"

It would make turning up at the start more interesting.

Of course you would have to PM each judge.

maybe we could all be nice to them & provide a direct link to our choice of download so that they don't have to go searching around everywhere.

Just a thought,

TSC.

For a future race, a suggestion might be to select a particular default scenery area centered on an air strip, with a number of prominent land marks, (Churches, factory chimneys, towers, etc, which everyone will have), as the "turning points".
The complete course distance being in the order of some 20 miles or so, (with 5 passes over the finish line, total 100 miles), containing the turning points manned by the observers who will ensure that no one cuts corners and therefore suffers penalty points.
Together with the handicap, this is the way that real air races are  run...Wink...!

...just a thought...

Paul...ever helpful... Wink...!

Great idea for the next one Paul. This Saturdays race will be default scenery only in a fairly small area (about 120 miles). The emphasis is on low passes, t+g's and battling multiple fast elevation changes. A short simple course with just enough twists to keep everyone on their toes!

Then we can showcase our aircraft afterwards, along with Theis' Christen Eagle! I wouldn't mind a mock dogfight with someone, sure to please the crowds!
