I fly out of KMGN alot, being the closest airport to my home town of Petoskey, MI. It's always annoyed me, however, that neither Petoskey nor Harbor Springs (The two towns that share KMGN) exist at all, in any form, in FS9. Just bare grass and a few trees, and while Harbor Springs is pretty small, Petoskey is actually decently sized. It makes the entire Little Traverse Bay area look wrong, particularly at night.

So, I'm wondering... Is there any easy way to make towns, without having to put every single building there with an object placer?

I've never ventured into the creation side of FS addons, so forgive the probably stupid question and terminology.

Yes there is, by changing the 'landclass' definition of the area(s). This will render an area(s) in generic  autogen scenery of your choice.

There are several utilities available that will allow you to do this.

If you have Excel, EZ Landclass by Russell Dirks is available here: http://www.simviation.com/fs2004utilities1.htm

I dont have Excel, so until recently, I have used a program called 'Landclass Assistant' by John Cillis, Ver 1.3 with 1.4 upgrade. Easy to use, with a good readme.doc. Dont believe it's available at SimV but a Google or search at Avsim will locate it.

I currently use the SBuilder V2.05 scenery design program, which has the advantage of previewing the  landclass in the design window. As SBuilder is a scenery design 'suite' it may be more than you need or want for the simple task of changing landclass.
