A €20bn (£13bn) air traffic system was announced yesterday by the European Commission to handle the projected doubling of flights in Europe over the next two decades.
The commission unveiled its plans for the "Sesar" system using the latest technologies to boost safety, cut emissions and manage flight patterns.
The transport commissioner, Jacques Barrot, said the project would eventually add about €50bn to Europe's economy and create almost 200,000 new jobs. The scheme will use the EU's satellite navigation programme Galileo to help manage traffic.

Sounds about well. Should I try to apply for a job as an ATC controller after all?

"Speedbird 271, turn left heading 075, descend flight level 210"
- "Hey, that's Hannover! And what's that searchlicht doing there?"
"Umm...nothing!" *Whistles nonchalantly*
