It seems there is a possibility that Sony is planning to make PS3 games playable only on the system they are originally played on, and if you look around a little on the internet this isn't just a rumor.
This would mean for $60 you would beat a game in 8 or 10 hours and that's that, no trading it in, no renting games for PS3, no taking your games to a friends house and no buying used games.
There is a lot of doubt that they will actually go through with it, but considering how Sony likes to stick it to their customers it really wouldn't suprise me if they did.

I also discovered that Sony music cd's apparently install some kind of spyware program on your PC that can't be removed without a phone call to sony, I heard they are being sued over this deal, they are also being sued for all the junk PS2's they sold that would start getting disc read errors after a few months of use. I know for the first year after the PS2 launch pretty much every one I knew had to buy a second PS2 due to this problem.
Then they put out the PSP with known issues that wasn't covered in the warranty.

I just thought I would put this info out there in case anyone hadn't heard about this stuff, or if anyone has more details.
So when the PS3 launches, now they are saying maybe 2007, possibly with a $500 or $600 price tag, you will get no hard drive, a boomerang for a controller, a half assed online gameplay setup and $60 games that are useless if your machine dies...what a deal.

Man, if that's true, then that REALLY sucks. Not that I was REALLY planning on getting one, the 360 looks a bit better IMO, but now I really don't want one. Tongue Roll Eyes

I think there'll be a very quick U.turn from Sony on this one if it was ever true in the first place.

As for the software to prevent piracy of their music CD's they are withdrawing that due to Lawsuits against them making changes to your computer without your permission  and Microsoft classing it as a virus.

In a way I hope they do it, that will ensure that I won't waste my money on a PS3, all the gamers I have talked to feel the same. I'm really not very interested in the PS3 anyways, no hard drive?? Everything has a hard drive these days, and in another year hard drives will most likely be standard equipment in all digital cameras and every other gadget that needs to save information, I believe Sony dropped the hard drive so you have to buy expensive memory cards just like with the PS2.

Personally I was very loyal to Sony and the Playstations until I bought my Xbox, I haven't had a single problem with it and the hard drive makes it so easy to save games, I don't have to search through a pile of memory cards to find a saved game I want to get back to, and when Microsoft discovered a problem with the power cords they immediately emailed all the registered owners and sent them a new cord within 2 days.
If you recall the trouble with the PS2 disc read error, Sony told my brother he had to ship it to Japan for repairs at a cost of over $100, and everyone I know including myself had this problem, Sony should have recalled the unit ASAP, but the bottom line is Sony doesn't give a crap about their customers.
Yes, I am becoming more and more biased against Sony, it seems that over and over again they keep screwing people and yet you still have fanboys that think Sony does no wrong, maybe this is just my opinion but if you really take a look at all of this you will find it is true.

I don't intend to buy an Xbox 360 until probably next Christmas, I don't feed into hype and I could care less about being the first dork on my block to have the new Xbox, they are predicting a major price drop for Christmas '06, I have enough other stuff to do in the meantime to keep me busy, of course there will be pressure from all the guys I work with because I know they will be trying to hunt one down on launch day if they didn't reserve one, and with the confirmed launch day shortage in mind I can only wish them luck, as well as anyone out there in SimV land that is hoping to get a 360 next week.

Another crappy measure to ensure that it a game can only be played by one person. I would say almost everyone who owns a console has borrowed/swapped games from their friends for a while, simply because you do not stay interested in the same games for all eternity. If this does go through, I bet they'll lose a lot more money on lack of PS3 sales, than on games being reused by others.

I never loan games out, sometimes my woman will let her niece borrow a couple of games but they are usually older ones, she never lets them take anything recent, it still doesn't make me very happy, I figure I had to pay to play it so should everyone else, and I have never asked anyone to borrow a game.

Sounds like my friend who only has one controller for his Xbox. Whenever my other friend and I go over he always wants my other friend to bring his controllers. Finaly one day he just said no. He needs to get his own extra controllers if he wants to play with friends.
