A C-130 has crashed 20km north of Kabul this morning. No more details at the moment!
There are two types of aeroplane, Spitfires and everything else that wishes it was a Spitfire!

It's an An-12, not a herc
Eyewitness report: "The plane was swaying from side to side and flying very low. There was no smoke coming from it. It then slammed into the mountain"
And when the An-12 doesn't smoke, there is something wrong with it
Russian planes:
IL-76 (all standard length ones)
,
Tu-154 and Il-62
,
Tu-134
and
An-24RV
&&&&AI flightplans and repaints can be found

Don't worry, according to the BBC the crashed aircraft was rumoured to be a Pakistani operated, Soviet built transport aircraft, most likely to be a C-130! Time they got a transport/aviation correspondant I think...
Reuters say it was an Il 76 apparently, but I'd understand the "C-130" and An-12 confusion...
Typical press trying to report the "facts" that they don't know...

They're all the same. So interested in getting a scoop that they can't be bothered to check the facts. The so-called "aviation experts" they employ know less about aviation than my little granddaughter.
This is just something we happen to know a bit about. If they can get this so wrong what hopes are there that the rest of what they publish is any more accurate?
