Hybrid, I would choose all glass, but you need a backup just in case.  Those G1000s look real nice though.... Smiley

Call me old-fashioned but I'll go for analogue, just like my wristwatch. You know where you are with them & a glass cockpit just wouldn't look right in a Tiger Moth. Roll Eyes Wink

Depends. A 747 would look ancient if it had analogue gauges, a Chipmunk with glass gauges would look too modern. Simple Tongue

Pedant.... Roll Eyes Tongue Wink Grin

Back on topic, and looking at a future scenario where GA glass cockpits are common, I wonder how a (private) pilot would cope if he had a MFD failure leading to having to do a partial panel instrument scan on standby analogue instruments he may not have looked at/practiced on for a year or so...

I thought the Spitfire windscreen was made of armoured glass. They don't come more pedantic than me. Tongue Cheesy

It just occurred to me that a glass cockpit wouldn't be much use on a Tiger Moth as it has no electrical supply or even a battery.

I stopped short of mentioning that. A rather thick piece too...

Having said that, what about the Pr Mk XI and XIXs that had on piece windscreens? Glass or perspex?

I imagine they would have been moulded perspex like the prototype.

All analogue. I absolutely despise the idea of putting all glass panels in a GA plane Undecided. It's a huge waste of money. I guess I should have picked "depends on the aircraft, because they are perfectly suited to airiners and fighter jets, but now I can't retract my vote for some reason.

Okay a quick history;
PR.IA - standard windscreen, no armoured glass bolted on the outside.
PR.IB and C - rounded single piece perspex screen as per the earlier Spits but minus the inverted U at the front, like a shortened version of the Speed Spitfires one.
PR.XI - rounded single piece perspex screen as per the earlier Spits, different hood from the XI as it didn't have a pressurised cockpit.
PR.X - rounded single piece perspex screen as per the earlier Spits, a Lobelle hood however as it had a pressurised cockpit. This model went into service after the XI... weird! Only 16 ever made!
PR.XIII - Low-level PR, standard rounded single piece perspex screen as per the earlier Spits and armed with four .303 Brownings. Sometimes known as the Type G.
PR.XIX - Griffon engined monster! Again the rounded single piece perspex screen as per the earlier Spits and a Lobelle hood however as it had a pressurised cockpit.
I think that covers all the PR models Wink

All analogue for me...like my trusty wrist watch with its hands...
The analogue "T" instrument formation has served well over the years...Grin...!

Always easier to note the change in conditions at a quick glance...the analogue VSI for example... Wink...!

Glass cockpit instruments are all well and good, until the power fails, then you are literally "in the dark"... Shocked...!
LOL...!

Paul....and a glass cockpit won't fit in my Flexwing.... Wink...!

Except for PL965 and PL983 which both were restored with standard Spit windscreens... Smiley

I soloed with "steam gauges", and that's what I'm used to.
A GPS and Stormscope are nice things to have for all-weather flying,
but hardly necessary, even in big jets. I love flying my old VC10 in the sim... with the AP on, of course! Grin
I'm still not used to the multifunction panels and HUDs I play with in FS9... I keep expecting them to flicker and die on me. and scrolling numbers just don't click in my 60s-era brain the way needles and dials do.
And hitting flaky LCDs  doesn't work half as often as it does with analog instruments...
Grin

... if you can't fly VFR with just clock, chart and compass, you've got no business flying...
