Hi Guys & Ladies,    I have many questions but will take them one at a time and will try not to repeat earlier ones. It is so nice to have "people in the know" to help me - - -  thanks very much for your help.   It is always my wish that my questions will be of help to others also.      My Question is :    I have 29 processes running in my computer after I  "CLEAN IT UP".   I don't know which ones I can SHUT-DOWN  W/O destruction of the computer and theirbye recover the "LOST  RAM" . Can you give me some guidlines and how to go about doing it ? ? ?  I have 768 Mb installed but work with about 420 Mb after the "CLEAN-UP"I posted some "Specs" earlier of my PC.     caveman16

The best information is at BlackViper's site here http://www.blackviper.com/. ; Unfortunately it's temoprarily down but it is mirrored at Major Geeks here http://majorgeeks.com/page.php?id=12.

After you have decided which services you can do without get FSAutostart http://www.kensalter.com/fsautostart/ to automate the process.

WOW - - -   Has this old caveman got a lot of "catching-up" to do ! ! !    Thanks so much for directing me to so much helpful information.  I thrive on such.   I must be doing something wrong with the download [ FS Autostart ]. I just can't get it to work ! !    I got into the file in the harddrive and get a message block stating it's missing a "start" file or something like that.  I've tried to find it elsewhere on many other sites w/o any luck.   They all are the same - - - - -  missing a file .     This one single utility file could possibly be the most important of any to help the Sim.     May I again ask you to help me in obtaining that file ?    I wish to thank you for your time and patience.     caveman16

I always prefer to use non-installers (.zip files).  If your version doesn't work uninstall it and get the .zip version here http://www.kensalter.com/forum/topic.asp?TOPIC_ID=59

You will have to manually create a profile.  From the installation instructions:

"3) Create the data folder.  You must use c:\Documents and Settings\<user>\Application Data\FSAutoStart  (NOTE:  The Application Data folder is hidden, so you must be able to see hidden files)

4) Copy fsautostart_service.ini here

5) Create a subfolder called Profiles

6) copy fsautostart.ini here.

You are now done.  You can start FSAutoStart by using fsautostart.exe."

Edit:  I just downloaded the .zip file and it has the 2 .ini files.  Just make sure you follow the manual installation instructions and put them in the right places.  Or you may be able to just cut & paste them into your profile.
