Either the Beau or the Ta-154 (Mosquito-killer) or Me-410.

It's interesting that you pose the Ta-154 - it had the potential, but the materials available (woods and adhesives) at the time weren't of good quality to support the production.

As to the Me-410, It was also a potentially good design, but in the end, not good enough.

As far as twin engined fighter-bombers, don't forget the Me-262, Gloster Meteor ....

Do-335.

I love the '38, but as a Canadian I have an attachment to anything called Pfiel (Arrow). Smiley

No Brett - even if this is flight SIMULATOR, you CANNOT have a 4-engined Mustang made for you!

I've always wondered if the Pe-2 should be considered a "fighter-bomber" or a light-bomber?

The difference, when you think about it, is so blurred.  THe Me-110 was first developed as a heavy fighter - but then the Mosquito was developed as a bomber, that turned into a fighter...

At that point, I guess the differences are academic (if the Ju-88 can be made into a fighter, then ....)

I agree, the Pe-2's contribution to the overall war effort was probably as significant (if not more so) than the IL-2 family.

Curses  Angry    OK... How about a 3-engine version with only one, center seat ?  Multi-fuselage control linkages make me nervous anyway..

Think I would have to go with the Beaufighter. A real beast of an aeroplane & (unlike the wooden Mossie) suitable for all theatres.

I seem to recall the Hampden was popularly known as the "flying suitcase". It was about as useful from what I've read about it. Roll Eyes

As a bomber, it wasn't the, well, "best".  I understand it came into (somewhat) it's own as a low level torpedo bomber of sorts.  Either way, it, along with the early planes, served valiantly in the early months of the war.
