Politics killed Concorde. Not economics. British Airways made nothing but a profit with Concorde right up to the end.

Basically true but please remember that BA paid £1 each for those aircraft that the management had never wanted. Not much considering the vast amount of development & production costs funded by the British & French taxpayers which could never realistically be recovered. A huge debt was written off when BA was being privatised in the 1980s meaning that the new British Airways plc started off with a clean slate. This was all part of a government deal to keep Concorde in service.

Hi Doug.
While the aircraft cost BA £1, the infrastructure round it that BA had to pay for, cost them millions of £'s before they even started.
