I'm not quite that arrogant & it really doesn't matter to me. I don't usually correct people's spelling mistakes or I wouldn't have time for anything else. LOL Tongue Cheesy

I mentioned this as it's an interesting fact which many people might not be aware of. Although there was more than one it was commonly referred to as Concorde.

Or the Concord. Roll Eyes Wink

Heh,

Personally, I get ticked off by things like, say, ummm, injustice, poverty....  but everyone's got their own hot button, I suppose.   Roll Eyes

Don't take this too seriously. Most of what's posted here is intended in a lighthearted manner although it's surprising what can irritate some people. I have to admit that some of these little things like spelling Concorde incorrectly irritate me although I rarely mention it. On the rare occasion that I did someone takes offence & jumps down my throat. Wink

A LOT of people think that there is only one Concorde for some reason. When ever it comes up in RL conversation (which is rare) I try to nicely inform people of the truth just like any other subject.

I see your point.  This thread has been hijacked over spelling.  I fear I'll give more fodder for spelling corrections in the near future.  I live by spelling and grammar checkers.   Cry

Anyway, according to that PBS documentary, Concorde became victim of environmental and noise polliution ordinances, which doomed it's feasibility to be economically successful.

I repeat. No offence was intended & I pointed that out not so much as a spelling mistake but as a matter of interest. If I caused any offence by doing so I sincerely apologise but if I have to add a disclaimer to every single remark I make my already lengthy posts will be twice as long. Shocked Wink

Quite correct although Concorde was killed off by politics more than anything else. The pollution issues were a convenient excuse.

PS. You might have noticed that I probably make more typos than anyone else on this forum.  I can spell fine & this is due to the fact that I'm possibly the world's worst typist & the reason most of my posts are edited at least once. Roll Eyes

Certain elements always had it in for Concorde (mentioning no names) whether using the political or "environmental" (watch out for those "cosmic rays"!). But put it this way, the maiden passenger voyage of this awesome transatlantic supersonic airliner was to Bahrain, not JFK, if you get my drift... Wink Smiley

LOL Cheesy The American form of spelling is another thing that irritates me, especially when I have to use it myself for programming my computer. Angry Two great countries separated by a common language. Roll Eyes Wink

Not certain about fatal flaws as I believe they had more than one accident. It came out later that the first highly publicised one at the Paris Air Show was caused by the pilot trying to avoid a collision with French Air Force Mirage spy planes that weren't supposed to be there & flew too close to it. At least one example was purchased by NASA & used for experimental work long after it was officially withdrawn from service. http://www.nasa.gov/centers/dryden/news/FactSheets/FS-062-DFRC.html

The NASA one proved that the LL version (Tu-144D with Tu-160 engines) flew better than the Concorde even though the engine mods completely messed up the throttle system

Russian planes: IL-76 (all standard length ones),  Tu-154 and Il-62, Tu-134 and An-24RV&&&&AI flightplans and repaints can be found here

It was 9/11 as I understand it that killed of Concorde, or, more to the point, her most regular paying customers.....

Fear & simple economics did the rest, and what a damn shame.  Angry

2 Years? My! Thats flown, unlike Concorde!
Sad Wink

Politics killed Concorde. Not economics. British Airways made nothing but a profit with Concorde right up to the end.
