While crawling round the web today trying to glean infomation about the DH Hornet I came accross the description of rather an interesting proposal about another Mosquito development that would have been a heavy bomber.

Basically, from what I understand the idea was to scale up the Mosquito and power it with a pair of Napier Sabre engines driving counter rotating propellers. The idea was to produce an aircraft that could carry 7000kg of bomb to Berlin at speeds in excess of 430mph. Sadly though, due to the unreliability of the Sabre at that stage in the war (1942) De Havilland were told that they would have to make do with the Griffon instead. And when that failed to make the idea as exciting as it was the concept was dropped.

So, does anyone have any more info on this aircraft? Or has access to a three view or something?

Anything?
