It was bad enough landing in here this afternoon in the gusting wind and driving rain and snow, but now I've had the stinkin' weather delay!  I hate sitting at the gate waiting for the weather to go above mimimums.  After making the run up here to Juneau from Seattle this afternoon, now I get this flight off later than scheduled to do the Fairbanks run.

At least it is rapidly clearing.

...

By the time clearances were done and we got to the end of the active, the weather and my attitude had improved greatly.  In fact, it should be a spectacular evening for flying with the disapating clouds and low sun.

...

Climbing out it was apparent that this would be a scenic flight....even if it was later than I'd expected.

...

Leaving Juneau and the inslet behind, we got up into the high country pretty quickly.  Nice little undercast accenting the landscape a bit.  In Alaska you are not usually very far from mountains.  And there asre not too many places to put her down around here if you need to!.

...

As the sun got lower and we got to cruising altitude, the view just got better and better.  Too bad I had a bunch of paperwork to take care of because of the late departure.

...

The lower the sun got, the better the view got.   We get paid for this?

...

About now I was wondering if the aurora would show it's face.... with it being October and all.  Prime time for some great natural fireworks.

...
