Yesterday the fire department was called about an aircraft that was reported to have crashed...
in reality it was an extra 300 scale replica with 3 meter wingspan, and there was nothing wrong with it.

Some people.
What is wrong with people's vision these days?! ??? How could one "see" fire and smoke?
Probably the same people will argue the hind legs off a donkey that they have seen a UFO.
Hence why I never believe anything not classified by science as a living thing in this world.

See Gordon Nichols' B-52 crash? That produced a bit of smoke!

Who said anything about fire & smoke? The fire department chaps deal with all sorts of things & putting out fires is just one of their many talents.

Dunno about Britain, but here in the states I believe they are the primary source of EMTs and emergency response personnel

Our chaps do all sorts of things, including cutting people out of car accidents, rescuing old ladies with their big toe stuck in the bath tap & rescuing cats from trees. Oh, and putting out fires.

Who would call the fire department for something as trivial as this? It's missusing resources and a waste of valuable tax dollars, or pounds for you brits
Or are you using the euro dollar, or something along those lines? ???

You might be surprised at what people call out the Fire Brigade (as it's called here) for. The Fire Brigade & Ambulance service are public services or used to be. These things used to be done willingly at no cost but I think they charge for things like that now they're expected to make a profit.
We still use the pound Sterling & will continue to do so for some considerable time if I have any say in the matter.
