Just got back from the SimV AGM (British chapter). A jolly good time was had by all 5 of of us. Here's a poster I rather liked on the subway wall on the way to the Science Museum. I bet you didn't know that.

Well, there was me of course or I couldn't have taken that photo. Ozzy came too as he organised it & we couldn't drag him away from that darned Spitfire. Will & Sarah turned up with their beautiful little daughter Abi. That makes 5. Wish you could have been there. 8)
It was a very nice day out. I'll wait until I see Ozzy's & Will's photos before posting any more. Hope they came out better than most of mine.

Again sorry I couldn't be there, but I have dentists bills to pay off this tuesday and £100 on train fare would have eaten into it.
So is there a group shot to share?

I knew that.
I would have gone. But I spent last weekend in the capital and couldn't really afford/justify going up again.
Maybe next time.

Ahh well yet another one I've been forced to miss ...... and talking of poo, that's the reason. A 24 hour sickness and diarrhea bug that decided to strike my wife and step daughter on wednesday night ....... then me and my stepson thursday night. Ergo both kids off from school on friday so I was grounded, apart from the fact that I had a slightly leaky botty
Glad you all had a good time.

Shame but never mind. I'm surprised it costs anything like that much even from Birmingham. It's a long time since I visited London on the train & I have to say I was pleasantly surprised. I purchased an all-in day Travelcard to London for £22 (not £25 as I said in another thread) which includes travel on London Transport buses & the Tube & the train journey back home again. You can go anywhere you like providing it's on the same day but at the stroke of midnight you turn into a pumpkin.
If I was a regular traveller it would pay me to get a special discount card & take advantage of my Senior Citizen status. This would have made it about £14. I caught the train from my local station which is a few minutes walk from my home & after a pleasant journey I got out at Victoria station in the heart of the city. After a nice breakfast at the station & a little wander round I got on the Tube & two stops later I was in South Kensington where all the museums are. Total price including my breakfast: less than 25 quid. Admission to all the museums in South Kensington is free so it makes a really cheap day out. It would have cost me far more than that to drive up there & also been more stressful. I've been a severe critic of public transport in this country for a long time but if this is an example I would recommend it to anyone.

The time that I went to the science museum was with the school. I enjoyed it, but the problem was, our group contained the two people who were actually interested in aircraft, and the only bit we didn't get to see, was the aircraft museum! Bloody typical! Hope you enjoyed it

mm not me, not that tall, about the same as Doug.
Doug If i could get the train to london for cheap say £20 £30 i would even consider a full time job at heathrow as its only 90 minutes to there from here. It took me that long to get to bristol airport almost.
