Microsoft has nothing to do with gmax - this is a discreet/Autodesk product.

That's right, I forgot.  I didn't remember that you could make CFS3 aircraft with Gmax, as well.

CFS3 was a marketing setback for Microsoft.  While it undoubtedly has its fanatics, I think that franchise is not going to be developed further anytime soon.

HOWEVER, with the gmax going by the wayside, future CFS3 add-ons by third parties should, sooner or later, dry up to a few die-hard devotees.  Unlike FS, the CFS3 gmax converter made the final model file, effectively limiting the modellers to use only gmax as their modelling.

Well, it seems that the late version of the Gmax installation package can't be found. However, I still have FS2k2 Pro [original discs]. Grin

yep CFS3 models come from gmax also, i got the cfs3 gamepack installed, but barely used... cfs3 is kinda akward (in my opinion) in some aspects. would be nice a plattform more "FS9able"

*and keep thinking if "FS9able" is an akward word, rubbing the chin, one eyebrow high, looking up...

Don't use that tombstone just yet. Gmax is still available in the FS2k2 pro and FS9 discs. I have also uploaded the Gmax crack. I think it's in the utilities section. Grin

Iv'e been thinking about this, Could it be a possibillity that the pawyare flightsim companys were not donateing to Discreet-Autodesk, because G-max is a free game developer software and payware compaines were makeing a profit of makeing airplanes-scenery and selling it. And those Flightsim companies never donated to Discreet-Autodesk and they decided that they would not contiue the development of new versions of G-max -updates, So they didn't want the flightsim companies to make money off of it? Im not saying they haven't. Does anybody else agree with me? ???

Yes I will miss G-max alot, I still have it running on my computer tho Smiley

To add to Katahu's comments:

#1 - AT THIS TIME - Autodesk has announced that the *availability*  of gmax to be downloaded (officially from the turbosquid site) is being continued past it's announced Nov.1 "deadline".

WHAT IS UNKNOWN - is whether game developers will receive a final "unlimited" license to develop their plug-ins.

For flightsimmers -
gmax 1.2 is available in the FS2004 discs.  You still need to download the SDKs  (see the Aircraft Design FAQ).

Plus:

Turbosquid is still providing the registration service. The Crack that is posted in SimV is used only as a workaround in case you have trouble receiving the registration code from Turbosquid.
