I think I'm going here on the 16th:
http://www.skydivetheranch.com/That's right- I'm going to jump out of a perfectly good airplane!!
Never done this before, but have been wanting to, especially after flying in to a little airport in Virginia once and walking up to the FBO as a group was just arriving.... heard all this whooping and giggling, but couldn't tell where it was coming from. Then I looked up... they all came down with such big grins and laughter-even a couple of first-timers- that I decided I absolutely had to do it.
I've visited Gardiner (awesome little country airport) by car, and saw the same phenomenon. They have a good reputation, and operate some fine jump-planes. It's also a private field, so there's no worrying about the errant bug-smasher flying into the DZ at the wrong time.
I could get a good bit of rented Cessna time for the same money, but what the heck- I've got a bee in my bonnet about this. And I can fly all winter, but the jump season is drawing to a close around here. Just have an awful feeling I'l l get hooked on another expensive pastime... first SCUBA, then flying, now this...

Wish me a happy landing, and if anyone in the NYC area is interested, let me know- we're trying to get a bunch together for the group discount, and are a bit short of that goal right now.
