October 4, 1992... El Al 747 crash in Holland (Read 331 times)

At 4 Oct 1992 around 19:00 local time a 747-200 crashed into a block of flats after losing both engines on one side.

Number of casualties was set at 43, but that number is still disputed.

The aircraft already had engine mount prolems week before the crash (oil leaks at the mounting pin location), and was hated by the crews because of the bad suspension. A few months before the crash, the roof panel fell down after a landing in New York.

The most disputed thing about this crash is the cargo, still not much known about what really was in there.
 

Russian planes: IL-76 (all standard length ones),  Tu-154 and Il-62, Tu-134 and An-24RV&&&&AI flightplans and repaints can be found here

An iraeli 747 in such a bad condition...very hard to imagine.

Not that hard to imagine as a few weeks after that crash another el al 747 slid off the runway becasue of the snow, but that one had a flap rail cover missing
