Nope. I've never really had any luck with those programs. IMHO, the best program out there to create an airport (either from scratch or modifying an existing one) is AFCAD version 2.21. Its capabilities are nearly endless but it lacks the ability to place objects. That's where Rwy12 and the BGLCOMP scenery SDK comes in.

Another excellent program is gMax.

Scenery design is tough to learn at first, but it takes time to really master it.

Agreed.
It also lacks the ability to flatten and exclude.
Rwy12 rules! (for adding scenery objects to the existing airport)

How can a program limited only to manipulating the taxiway, parking & runway locations have its capabilities described as nearly endless ???

Op - Lots have tried & succeeded with your combo, however that technique is now on the whole regarded as obsolete.

I`ve used FSSC to do the flattening and some buildings, AFCAD2 for the runways, taxiways and the base textures, and RWY12 for objects.  But last night I ran into trouble between fssc and rwy12.  Either the buildings from fssc or the objects from rwy12 would show, but not at the same time.  It has worked before but now it has me baffled.  I`ve tried to play with Scenegenx but havent had any luck with it.

It can do much more than that. I've used AFCAD for purposes it wasn't designed for, such as getting an exact position of my aircraft for precise scenery object placement.  I've also used it to simulate a stretch of a major highway that lines Sanderson Field's east side, and even managed to simulate the two-way left-turn lane. This stretch was more than a mile long.

In addition, it can be used for more than just airport development. In my Mount St. Helens Scenery Package (over at AVSIM because of its sheer size), I was able to use AFCAD to simulate visitor center parking lots and stretches of the Spirit Lake Highway near Mount St. Helens.
