I can be ready at EGBB for 2200 BST (2100 GMT) I'll bring my Tucano along, unless we want to go for warbirds? Wink

I wouldn't mind flying Tucanos, if you posted a link to which one you may be flying, and any repaint!

I've downloaded the "Teamspeak" program, and the Icon sits on my desktop.
But it looks seriously complicated to it get up and running....
...(I mean the "Teamspeak" program... Wink...)...LOL...!

It may be worth trying it out tonight, (I have a head-set with mike connected to my sound card)....
....(Mike doesn't mind, apparently... Wink...)...LOL...!

Fozz......uh...PABLO!,

One thing that you need to rememebr on dailup..... is that Teamspeak is using bandwidth (sending and receiving) along with the sim.  So you might experience crappy audio quality or degraded sim performance with both of them running a the same time.

To set Teamspeak up...... first go to your Windows sound configuration and make sure it is set with the microphone active and the volume for it at full.  Also make sure that your headphone/speaker output is on and at full volume.  if you don't get sound correct in Windows.... it won't work in Teamspeak.

Now start Teamspeak.  Go to "Settings" and then "Sound Input / Output Settings"  Check the "Push to Talk" radio button and then hit the "Set" button.  Press a key (I use F12 on a regular keyboard).  The key name will appear above the button.  That is now your PTT button.

Then hit the "Activate Local Test" button at the bottom of the screen.  Push your hot key PTT button and talk into your mike...... you should see the green "led" light up and hear yourself echo with a slight delay into your own headphones.   If so... you have the first step completed.  If not... so to the "Codec" selection pull down and try a different one until it DOES work.

Now click on the "Connection" tab and the "Connect" menu item.   You'll get a screen with a big whie box on the left.  It will say "Servers" on a heirachal type menu.  RIGHT click on this word... and it will give you the pop-up that says "Add Server". Select that.

On the right side of the screen a series of entries will appear.  Fill these in now.  The top box (Label) is for your OWN reference name of the server.  You can call it anything... but in this case maybe "WSPilots" would be a good one for that box Wink.

The Server Address box is for the location of the Teamspeak server you are going to connect to.  In this case it is teamspeak.wspilots.com for that box.

The "Nickname" box is for the identity you will show on Teamspeak... and typically should match your tailnumber that the sim will use.  Fill that in there....... like "G-FOZZ" or something.... or would that be G-PABLO"  Grin.

In "Login Name" put in the same thing as the nickname box.

In the "User Password" box for THIS server put in "WSPflyer" (without the quotes).

If I am remembering correctly, leave everything else as it came up default.  When you exit the program this will now be stored for future use simply by clicking on the WSPilots label entry and hitting the "Connect" button.

Now go back to the "Settings" tab.  You'll see an "Options" choice.  Select it.

If you look there on the pop-up you'll see a slider that has the option of "Quality" and "Low Latency".  If you experience problems with the dial up data rate... move the bar to "lower latency" and see if it helps.  You'll also see an tab option at the top that is "Bandwidth"....you can also try restricting that from "unlimited" (default setting).

One thing what you WILL want to chance on this screen is the "Notifications" volume setting.  Move the slider to the next to the bottom detent.  This will make the "Bitchin' Betty" function that tells you what Teamspeak is dooing audible... but very quiet.

Go the the "Connect" screen now and click on the WSPilots entry.  Shortly you should see the WSPilots Teamspeak server pop up on the main TS screen .....with you in the "entry" channel and a bunch of other channels like "Free Flight" and "121.00" and such listed.  If you double click on a "frequency" channel... you automatically "change frequencies" to that channel.  If you press your local PTT... you should see the little green "light" next to your name light up.  If so... it's working......but that says nothing of voice quality.

Then you need someone else on channel to talk to  Grin.

To adjust mike volume and headphone volume... use the Windows mixer.  There is also a TS volume slider in the "Settings" section that you can use to fine tune it all.

That's usually all there is to it.  If there are other issues... it is a sound card setup issue... and that often gets complicated to debug.

best,

Dialup and voice does not usually go well, if you get it to work it may convince you to go ADSL.

BTW best check my post in the cafe on Omag's map project before we talk on teamspeak, wouldn't want to offend your delicate sensibilities Cheesy

Catch you later
