I have seen the Blue Angels MANY times. This was by far the best Blue Angels experience I have ever had. It was so...up close and personal. Haha. And what was funny was...minutes before they took off, the sky looked horrific...I thought for sure their practice was going to get rained out. They waited on the runway for about 10 minutes before taking off. In that time, the sky cleared up perfectly. The power of the Angels I guess...

I've always found "Hornet" to be the perfect name for these jets. Bzzzzzzzzzz....

Both #7's flew the practice.

In the hi-res version of this photo you can easily see that the pilot of the closest jet is clearly looking down at us below. The other pilot is looking at him.

I was pleasantly surprised to see them approach overhead for landing. I think they were putting on a show for us...they took off coming at us and landed the opposite direction sending them right over us instead of using the same direction they took off like they normally would.

Of course photos never truly capture the effect of how close they really were to us. But these give you an idea...
Stay tuned for pics from the Friday Evening show, and the actual airshow performances from Saturday.
