Why do you say that? Quo concerts are always packed with people of all ages enjoying themselves, including the band. Rock 'n roll was originally dance music & doesn't need to have deep significant, meaningful & usually depressing lyrics to be good. I think we had much more fun in the old days. Bring back rock 'n roll I say.

If you say...I've never been a fan of RnR. Too simple for my taste.

Often the simple things in life are the best. You should try it some time.

I have heard of these guys, but I don't recall them ever being very popular here in the states, as a matter of fact, as a life long music fan, I can't say I know any of their songs.

It's basically 3 chord rock 'n roll Paz. Chuck Berry stuff although they're far better than most people give them credit for. I doubt very much that Status Quo would be popular in the US as you have many similar home-grown bands.

Just sometimes, I kick in our local classic rock radio station. But soon enough, I return to my music again.

What do you listen to then?
I can't believe people can't enjoy listening to the Quo. They have some bloody catchy songs and damn do they rock. Some of their earlier stuff wasn't that simple either.
I dare anyone to listen to Caroline and not at least tap their foot.
Good for Quo I say 8)

Most modern "rock" music is very simple these days. I'd say rock music reached it's peak of complexity in the 60's and 70's anyway.

Yeah, classic rock maybe. But a good part of alternative rock is anything but simple.

I think we need to separate the "commercial" rock from the "genuine" rock.... Commercialising any kind of music makes it bubblegum that gets chewed over and over again. I have a big problem with the socalled "alternative" rock in the skate-style... you know, the Good Charlotte, Blink 182, Greenday etc. Stuff. They all had some nice tunes, but it gets kinda repetitive to me, always those powerguitars, same vocal-styles etc. It all becomes so alike, certainly when it's getting more and more airplay at the popular radio-stations. Yet I believe there are some really inventive and motivated bands out there that take this particular style of music to a higher level... We need new things people... we need it bad!

on reflection the likes of Piledriver and Hello! are not that simple. There is some pretty inventive stuff on there.

I think you chaps take all this far too seriously. I've mentioned before the inverted snobbery in what is after all 'pop' music. This seems worse now than it was back in the 60s. Rock music was originally intended for entertainment & dancing, just like what is commonly called classical music these days. It's all pop or popular music as that's what it was intended to be.
I've always had a very broad taste in music & being prepared to listen to new things increases the range even more. I don't like these little boxes people seem so fond of. If someone decides it's Country & I like it so what? I couldn't care less what anyone else thinks. Just because I enjoy Status Quo doesn't mean that I listen to them all the time or prevent me from enjoying many other types of music that might be completely different. I hope you will learn to do the same. I dont know what I would do without music in some form or another.
