this is an easy question, i hope.

do any of you know if the 3d designer ProDESKTOP 8.0 can make usable .mdl files (like airplanes)

What do I do you ask? I struggle! Then destroy! Then try to put back together what I just broke on accident.....&&&&&&&&&&                        The GMax effect... The GMax effect

Not an easy question if one can't even get to a product description page!

If the program can export a textured and animated )according to the Microsoft SDKs) model into a direct x file, then you can run makemdl.exe on that x file.

Never ever use a CAD Modelling software for the creation
of 3D Modells.. !! expect you want to build that thing in realworld later. For Visualisation or Realtime Applications CAD Geometry is always the worst choice.

I could write now 10 sides to describe
all the problems that could occur with CAD imports.
(You probabely won´t come around a gmax import)
Not to mention the mapping coordinates you somhow
have to add to your model (CAD Software usually doesn´t
know mapping coordinates or unwrapping)

So better take some time and learn gmax. It´s not that
hard as many people think. Gmax offers the most
advanced poly modelling tools on the market for free.
I always say to myself... why driving Fiat when I can have a Ferrari for the same price Wink  Grin

cheers

well thank you Sam, i was just wondering if i could model with ProDesktop. I am taking a class in high school and so far i am making my teacher mad already, many times i cannot do things the exact way he wants them so i "come up" with my own way of doing things.

btw luckily my teacher is 25miles away
