I noticed that there was a 12GB folder under which all the mesh info was installed to (Folder "FSG2005", with subfolders "AFR", "ASI", "EUR"...etc). I'm wondering if anyone knew if that was all that FSGlobal installed.

I have to reinstall FS9 after my HDD crashed, and I remember installing FSG was a pain in the ass (took about two hours off of the DVDs). I'm wondering if I can just forgo the install, copy that 12GB folder and use it as add-on scenery? Would that achieve the same effect?

Hatter, I have FS2005 Global.

I assume it would work. but not sure. It also registers it in the scenery library.

Why don't you ask them!

Fly2e:

Thanks for the suggestion. I just decided to try it out. It works fine, so, for anyone who wants to cleanly reinstall FS9, its not necessary to delete and reinstall FSG, just keep the folder and re-add it as addon scenery (the install does it for you when you run it off the DVD).

It doesn't really help people who want transfer the files between HDDs; its still 12GB, but, going from HDD to HDD should be faster than DVD to HDD.
