Some final views of the show from last Saturday

Up close and personal, love that prop

http://www.simviation.com/yabbuploads/dux16

The best focused shot I got of these guys, going the right speed for my camera focus and shutter

Arty closeup

Charlie in a few years time? Alternative method of carrying out a pre-flight I suppose

http://www.simviation.com/yabbuploads/dux17

Some shots from the American Air Museum....amazing place. I always thought these were bigger

A wider view, name the planes?

Lol! I hope so. Couldn't be me though - I'd be wandering round with my camera looking at "more proper" aeroplanes... Grin

Name the planes!

1. dead center A-10 Warthog

2. dual wing prop hanging to the left upper portion of the picture is a Sopwith

3. In the background a p51 mustang

4. I see the wing and engines of a b2 bomber

Its only in your mind, strong mind, strong soul and nobody can take that from you!

The bi-plane is a Spad and the bomber is a B-52 Wink

I can see a B-24 & B-17. Also a U-2 & P-47. The red & white striped rudder could belong to a Stearman. Forget what the one is in the foreground. Could be an F-111. Undecided

PS. Cheating really as I've been in the museum several times.

The props away to the front are the b17 and the tailplane with a Y is a b29 I think?

And yes F-111 in the foreground

Yep. No one's noticed the Dakota in the middle of the photo yet!

You can just make out the Avenger too.

The P-51 (sort of) doesn't count - it's plastic! Grin

You're quite correct of course. If I remember correctly the B-17 is now suspended from the ceiling.* Not sure it's visible in this photo. They have an awful lot of aeroplanes packed in that hangar. Maybe too many.

*PS. Or perhaps not. Undecided I think they have a scenario with mechanics working on the engines. Waxworks, not real ones.

The largest aircraft that are on the ceiling are the C-47, B-25, Avenger and the F-100. Smiley

heeheehee  Grin I meant to say B52 but I wasn't too sure! Hey 3 out of 4 isn't that bad!

Also right in the front of the picture under the wing of that b-52 is a F111 with radar jamming probe on the tailwing!  Grin (noticed its body and it sweeping wings)

It's an F-111E. If you are thinking of the EF-111 Raven, the jamming pod is of the same proportions as that on the EA-6B Prowler. Anyway, here's the aircraft's history... Smiley

Quote:
The F-111 on display, 67-120, retains the 55th Fighter Squadron, 20th Fighter Wing markings, it carried when based at RAF Upper Heyford, UK. It flew 19 Desert Storm missions and flew into Duxford on 19 October 1993.
