Cool. actually, I've been thinking about a flight to Ohio this year... never been to the USAF museum or the RnR Hall of Fame.
Been to Chillicothe, though- it smells funny.  Tongue  Grin

Think you mentioned that before, DJ... I used to fly out of Lincoln Park a lot. What's your story? Licensed, student, owner..?

Hey Rotty... those are to outstanding day-flights. Burke Lakefront Airport is right on lake Erie (ala Meigs on Lake Michigan) and is within walking distance of great places to eat ( a cafe sitting on a pier full of WWII ships and a submarine), The Rock Hall and Cleveland Stadium.

Flying to Wright Patterson AFB Musem is something every pilot should do once in their life. You can't actually fly TO it (it's an AFB), but Xenia, Ohio is a short cab-ride away. Then.. you hop over to Urbana for the neatest $100 hamburger around. It's just how it should be. You land and taxi right up to the restaurant and can watch planes come and go from your table.

If you ever plan on making any of those trips (or anyone else).. PM me and we'll make arrangements to hook up (burgers are on me Grin )

Looking up Xenia in my AFD leads to a reference to Dayton... are you thinking of Greene County-L.A. Jackson Regional Airport (I19)? I see there's also  Dayton-New Lebanon (I44) and Dayton-Whright Bros (MGY). I know Dayton's a pretty big town, but I wonder which is really closest...I44 sounds like about my speed.
And Frasca Field (Urbana, right? Or is there an Urbana in Ohio?) sounds very nice...
Whatever the case, if I'm flying that way, I'll give you a heads-up.
And beware of offering to pick up the tab- flying makes me hungry.

Yeah,  ( I19 ) is the airport real close to the museum.. then Urban (Ohio) ( I74 ) is just NE..

I fly out of Don Scott Field ( KOSU ) on the NW corner of Columbus. It's biggest claim to fame is that back in the 60s.. a TWA 707 mistook it for Port Columbus and landed there on a 5,000 foot runway. They had to strip the interior an give it just enough fuel to hop over to Columbus' main airport, before it could take off safely. It also claims to be the busiest (most take-offs / landings) airport in Ohio ( Ohio State University bases it's flight training there.. plus a few private clubs/schools).

I'll get the tab.. you get the tip Wink

How about WWD this Sunday? I was in MIV yesterday and the owners (they own both the resturant at MIV and WWD) said they will closing shortly for the off season and won't be re-opening until the spring.

Hey CP ... are you still up for Sunday?

Welll shoot! People talking about coming to Ohio?

Anytime you guys are heading toward Ohio especially the northeastern side let me know.. Wink

For example Burke Lakfront is only an hour or so away from here driving, I could meet you guys at Burke with a mini-van.. Wink

From there we could go somewhere for food and head to the rock hall.... Smiley

Might have to be sometime when I'm not in the middle of college/work thing again... Sad

Anyways, let me know next time you come to ohio.. Wink

It's looking a little iffy right now. I'll PM you my phone number, give me a call tomorrow night and we can talk about it, I've got to work at 1 and my airplane is getting worked on. I won't have any trouble taking a friend's plane, but the work issue may keep me from coming.
