So I'm hanging around the airport today with my camera, and I remember that a certain SimVer not only keeps his plane there, but he had mentioned that he'd be flying out of there today.
No kidding- just as that thought finishes rattling around in my brain, I see a nice-looking Cherokee approach, having just turned around after deciding to use 25 instead of 07. Could it be...? I can't recall the color scheme or tail number, but it just might be...

Hmmm... face looks familiar, sort of... seems to be looking right at me...and what is that expression?  Puzzlement?  Annoyance?  Gas??  ???

Yes, it's our own Marco!! And such a beautiful Cherokee; nice to get a good look at it.

Sadly, I actually missed Marco's takeoff (I think I was talking to somebody), but I'm sure it was excellent... Grin
  He was going to take a taildragger lesson out at VanSant today- wonder how it went with that northerly breeze... Lips Sealed
Hope your landings were better than mine, buddy- and I hope you didn't see mine!!   Embarrassed

Yeppers ... that was me.

Yeah I was me ... i was "annoyed" because the wind shifted on me while i was taxing to 7 ... it's been doing that for the past 4 days ... switching back and forth that is.

I saw people at the fence but I didn't really focus so I didn't notice you taking pictures actually ...  Grin

By the way ... if by "gas" you meant "gas prices" you aren't that far from the truth ...  Sad

Looks like a nice trip- but i thought you were going to VanSant?
You're a lucky guy to have found a pretty lady who tolerates and shares your little "obsession"...

I hadn't figured you were annoyed by the wind change-up (muttering curses, were we?), but  yes, i did see you turn around. Tricky day, there- people were taking off this way and that; hard to tell exactly where the sock would be at a given moment. Makes me wonder if i actually caught a bit of a tailwind on my first approach coming back- I've never bounced like that; had to go around. I hope you didn't see that...Embarrassed
Before my flight that morning, I'd just finished filling up 715 by the pumps and had a 'what now?" moment deciding which way to take off (wind was even more gusty and variable earlier that day, for some reason)... coupla people ahead made up my mind for me, and of course I waas on the wrong end of the field. I hate when that happens- not as bad as my very first solo at N07, when the runway changed while i was in the pattern... Cheesy Roll Eyes
  Looks like the clouds were a bit higher to the south- how was the wind down there? I got knocked all over the place trying to turn around west of Blairstown, and there was a pretty stiff crosswind there, too.
As for the gasprices: I heard that it hadn't jumped so much at 47N, I guess it has something to do with 100LL being a "boutique" fuel: I've heard they make a 6-month supply of it at just a few locations, so this sort of interruption in supply (Gulf disaster) doesn't affect the price so much. But who knows what lies ahead (lower prices-not!)?

It was smoother the farther south you went ...

By the time we got back (around 7pm) it was nice and quiet at 47N.

Yeah the wind does that sometimes.

You start your takeoff on runway 25 and you realize that the wind has switched to 7.

In fact I did take a tail wind kick on the way up and I felt the controls mush down a bit as soon as the plane lifted off and the airspeed indicator started jiggling wildly.

So I lowered the nose and kept myself in ground effect for a few more seconds before starting the climb.

... no I didn't see your landing. Glad you didn't see mine at Flying W  Lips Sealed

I believe it.. it was actually pretty mellow when you left, compared to that morning. Who'da thunk it would be all blustery at 9AM?

I lucked out there, but I definitely had a few good jounces in cruise.. real thumpers. And I almost aborted my approach at Blairstown, until I got down to the pattern alt and found things a little quieter. The air was just tumbling around there alongside the ridge... bet that glider pilot had some fun!

LOL...I can't tell you how relieved I was to find out that lady hadn't caught my landing (or go-around) on camera...
But I was curious, I guess, so I had to check.
   She was there with her boyfriend (husband?) for his first intro flight; she chickened out and didn't go, despite a keen interest. I told her I hoped I hadn't scared her off flying with my newb-ish arrival, but I guess it was not the case...
