So M$ teams up with the CFS3 dev guys and CFS2 gets the bum deal? Angry I'm not opposed to CFS3 dev but seriously CFS2 is getting ignored. That's what really gets me going Angry That's why I started this post in the first place...geez....Sad:( Undecided Undecided

We received some tools and pointers when we started MAW, but I'm afraid by now M$ support for CFS3 is as dead as for CFS2 so we're in the same boat.  Grin

I agree, but it soon will surpass CFS2 unless more developers help out... Sad

This is getting ridiculous Bomber. You can't stop progress & right now CFS3 apparently has more potential. Some developers like Bear & Mathias feel they did as much as they could with CFS2 & rather than pack it in went on to the challenge of CFS3.

Meanwhile, people like me & IndioBlack (who knows far more than he is prepared to admit) plus plenty of others are still plodding on producing addons for CFS2. Creating anything worthwhile obviously takes time but we're still working in the background. Taking advantage of the work done by previous developers since CFS1 makes it much easier & I'm grateful to every single one of them. Newcomers like you prove that the demand is still there & you're helping by creating your own stuff. This is how it always was & we can't change that or influence a huge professional corporation like Microsoft in any way.

This thread is rapidly turning into what I feared.

Yes it is, good work MAW! What is OFF anyway? ???

Since this is on the MAW public the list we can post a WIP screen of it.  Alx & Corrado's CR-32

...

Think about the best ever of the bi-planes Gladiator, Swordfish, CR-32, CR-42 (Falco/Falcon) duking it out at over 200mph 25,000ft above the MTO

OFF = Over Flanders Fields.  It like MAW is a rather massive development effort dealing with WWI aviation on the western front.  Its list of aircraft will add a few more new planes into the CFS3 inventory & maybe we will be as prolific as Strike Fighters or IL2/PF  Grin

Allied Craft:

Sopwith Camel
SE5A
Nieuport 17
Nieuport 24
SPAD 13
Hanriot HD 1  (Possibly AI Only at Time of Release)

In my opinion, flight sim's in general have lost the luster and market share they once held 5 years ago.  Don't agree?  Go to your local computer store and browse the controller shelves.  Five years ago, you saw a plethora of flight yokes and joysticks.  Now, all you see are game controllers and just a few joysticks.  I think FPS's are the dominant genre right now.

IMO you have nothing to contribute to the discussion because you obviously don't know what you're talking about.

That's just plain rude in any language.  You should be ashamed of yourself in resorting to such juvenile mud-slinging.

That's 100% fine with me. What I ment was unless some 50 developers spring up from nowhere CFS3 addons will be more than the CFS2 addons. There isn't anything wrong with that though, it's just kinda sad... Wink

Well unless some CFS4 or great spanking new FS10 (FS2006) pops up on shelves in the truckloads then next to no money will be made by M$'s CFS and FS range. Yes, I agree! Embarrassed

Unless Indio is plain nuts when it comes to whatever he is talking about (and he's not like that in my opinion) then yeah it is, kind of Undecided But Indio those words are a little harsh don't you think? Smiley

I really don't get your point Bomber old chap. The unusual thing about CFS is that all three versions are different. They remain popular for much longer than the equivalent versions of FS as these are basically updates of the same sim. You won't find many people creating stuff for FS2002 now.

It's not likely that 50 experienced developers are going to suddenly spring up from nowhere but some of the old stagers are still around. There's also the newcomers like you which can only be good for the hobby. If downloads from the Fox Four site are anything to go by CFS2 still has a large following. Come to that, people are still downloading the missions we created for CFS1 back in the year dot. Wink

No it's definately not likely. Luckily it's possible to run lots of FS2004 things in FS2002. I'm not surprised FS2002 is getting hardly a bit of attention. All the FS guys cling to FS2004 like it's a magnet! Grin There's nothing wrong with that though... Smiley

Fox Four is cool... Grin

Well the first step is to get a committee of 50 guys to sit down with a project objective to design a horse.

This is what he said to me:

"IMO you have nothing to contribute to the discussion because you obviously don't know what you're talking about."

And I'm the bad guy?????????

Hell, if I'm the bad guy, the next response is going to have lots of words beginning with F, C and B.

Yes I agree with you 100%.  Sadly so do the major publishers as they have pretty much bailed out of flight sims over the past 5 years leaving only UBI/SOFT releasing Combat Flight Sims.  They will not have a new offering till late '06 or early '07 provided they don't also pull the plug.

You are not the bad guy Roll Eyes It's just that I never tell people they should be ashamed of themselves unless they throw insults right at me. I'm just not used to anything like that on SimV. No it wasn't the nicest thing to tell someone they obviously don't know what they are talking about (not even saying 'no offense') it's just that I never say anything like 'That's just plain rude in any language.  You should be ashamed of yourself in resorting to such juvenile mud-slinging' You aren't the bad guy and that is my point Roll Eyes

BTW our CFS2 Lanc had about 9,000 downloads in 4 years so between it & the CFS2 B-17 they just about equal the CFS3 B-17's 2 year total dowloads.

So you lot made a CFS2 Lanc? I use the VB one since I never knew about yours...???

Quote:
Having said that, I think I'll take a B-17 up and bomb Germany tonight.

Mathias will be glad to know it probably isn't in Saxony Grin

Quote:
(missing on the list are Walrus, Do24, couple of subversion of Fw190, Bf109 and Bf110 and some easter eggs not even mentioned anywhere, not to talk about the long list of vehicles, buildings, infrastructure, the new flight modelling etc etc pp)

Is there a time when you lot stop?!!? Grin Grin Grin BTW, CFS3 has to catch up to CFS2 and being the success that CFS2 was you guys have a while to go and CFS2 is still being modded mind you 8)

Happy flying,

Bombardier
