I think rock is well established here, so hows about something for us minorities, eh? Grin

What do you listen on a regular basis that isn't rock (that includes everything from Greenday to AC/DC to Slipknot)?

Personally, I listen to Sasha Lazard a whole lot.  It's like opera (the interesting kind) with some dance beats thrown in.  Though it's much better than any of Emma Shapplin's stuff.  I also listen to the Ahn Trio a bit.  It's classical, but it doesn't drone on for hours like a lot of classical does.

I also listen to t.A.T.u. and Puffy AmiYumi to subdue the pop lover in me. Cheesy

I think I have a very diverse taste in music actually. The only "form" of music I can't stand is Rap/Hip Hop/R&B. It just gets to me.

The main leaders though are a lot of classical, bluegrass, and big band.

I don't know what class I'd put Tom Lehrer in, but I listen to his stuff a fair bit.

Yes, so can I, but do reread the proposed question.

I listen to stuff like Ludacris and The Dave Drubeck Quartet, but when I fire up Windows Media Player, the mouse is much more inclinded to wander off towards t.A.T.u. then say, Ai Otsuka.

Since I got XM satellite radio I can hear all types of music that I would otherwise have no way of discovering, FM radio is so lame.

I can't name specific artists but I like hearing any type of music that you won't hear on regular radio, I especially find music from other cultures very interesting, and I agree that rock/metal and any similar form of music has been done to such a point of redundancy that it is very difficult to tell one band from another, always more of the same, very few original ideas anymore.

Even the CD I have been writing and recording is nothing groundbreaking, I am a metal guy so all my stuff will always be metal, although I throw in synths and classical guitar now and then it is still metal.

What the...? someone under 30 who likes Tom Lehrer? I need to sit down...
You have excellent taste. His songs are funny as hell- and timeless.
I guess you could call his stuff "comedy" or "satire", but those aren't really musical categories. "Pop", maybe.

...it's a funny thing...

But after a rendering by John Dowland, Henry Purcell, J.S Bach, Mozart, G.F Handel, etc...etc...

I find that I can't resist a bit of ear-bending "Green Day" every now and again... Wink... Grin...!
Love it...!

The different stuff éh? Well, my taste is very wide, but here are some names.

Laid back holiday lounge feeling? Sven Van Hees and Buscemi do the trick! ( http://www.svenvanhees.com ; and http://www.buscemi.be )

Moody dance music? D-note - shed my skin, Delirium - silence, Iio - rapture.

Wicked stuff? Miss kitten, Vive la fête, Daan, Laurent Garnier. ( http://www.misskittin.com - http://www.vivelafete.be - http://www.daan.be - http://www.pedrobroadcast.com )

Atmospheric sixties feeling by a quality Belgian band? Hooverphonic! ( http://www.hooverphonic.com )

I never drive my car without my Tarantino-collection cd! Dick Dale misirlou baby!

Funky stuff? Steve Wonder - Superstition - that HAS to be the baddest base-line ever written!

M.I.A. - HOT little nasty girl-rapper! ( http://www.miauk.com )

There is just soooo much great music out... sadly only one radiostation in Belgium seems to care to play it! www.stubru.be
