Ive just got volumes 1-3 of Just flight's VFR photographic scenery for England and wales but the loading time in between where you start and en route is really slow i was wandering if there are any ways to reduce this time. (My PC is almost brand new so that shouldnt be a problem)
Cheers

I have VFR Scenery and it works fine on my PC, to increase the quality you need to have antialiasing on and set mip mapping to a high level. What spec PC do you have? Also in order to enjoy it it really is a good idea to go in a cessna or other GA, for me i usually use the Mooney Bravo. Really to speed it up you need a good graphics card and over 512 MB RAM

How high were you? Ahem..... let's rephrase that a bit....... how high off the GROUND were you?
A lot of the photographic stuff liooks worse than the default under about 1000 feet AGL....... and it gets really good well above 2000.
Might your experience be from the low levels?
best,
.................john

LOL now were back to the loading problem again. It looks rly good it just takes a few years to load. it kind of puts you off flying over the UK.

Smashie,
I am impressed with the combination of FSGenesis mesh with FScene textures .... I use it in Japan... and it finally looks vaguely LIKE Japan.

I found Fscene to be a bit well... c**p.. colours are totally unrealistic unless your flying in very eastern countries..
I found MS default to be better than Fscene, its such a relief when you switch from Fscene to default..

I agree completely on the Asia thing relative to FScene. The default M$ stuff llooks like "USA East". The FScene textures are far, far, FAR better for Japan.......... where I have spent a bunch of time.
Can't say about anywhere else...... don't have them installed. Too expensive to install them everywhere
.
I have the FSGenesis Landclass for the USA... and that makes a huge difference in the US too without changing the texture files....particularly when combined with the FSGenesis roads package.
They just don't have enough golf courses in the Tokyo and Kyoto areas though
. It is amazing how many of them there are....... considerring what it costs to play golf in Japan ...and considering the land values. Although on one of the STARS for Tokyo.... they DO have some of the close in golf courses in exactly the right places
.
The other thing I want to "solve" for Japan is somehow replacing the autogen buildings there. (Any hints of that one?) They too are god awful. While Japan is rapidly chasing Western values and losing a lot of it's identity........ there are still a lot of visual archetectural elements that DON'T look like "USA East". Yet
. And in the countryside... there are still a lot of traditional buildings. And SCADS of Shinto and Buddhist temples.
best,

John,
I can't comment on Japan as I've only flown in and out of there at night so a window seat was a waste of time
My Girlfriend is from China and Fscene looks great as I've seen it a few times (from a BA 777), Beijing is about a 5th of the size it should be, no ring roads (all bar one bigger than the M25), no CBD and WHERE THE HELL IS THE GOBI DESERT????
Please don't start me on the Forbidden city!!!!!!!!!!!!!
I know that with FS were always going to get a limited view of the rest of the world, but I'm sure you, I and a rake of other people would pay for decent far east addons.
Fustrated,
Mark
