Howzit guys,

I have a problem with connecting my laptop to a friends through a LAN cable.  The connection keeps saying "Limited or no connectivity"!  With an exlamation mark in a yellow triangle.  We can't play a lot of networked games, though some do work.  Please could someone explain to me what this problem means and how to fix it.  I've looked everywhere and I simply don't have a clue!  Thanks any help will be much appreciated!

Greg

It seems like you want to establish a peer to peer connection.

Make sure you use a crossover cat5e or cat6 cable. A straight-though cable would not work unless your NIC's are auto-sensing when it comes to wire types.

Also, make sure both your computers have different IP address, but have the same network address. Here is an IP address scheme for you if you need to use it:
Comp1: 192.168.0.1
Comp2: 192.168.0.2
Subnet for both: 255.255.255.0

BTW, does your friend have a switch? That would make things a lot simpler.
