This is a absurd question. Almost every week we get something new or some kind improvement for it. Its continuasly beign upgraded.

The only way this great Simulator would been dead is if it been a close structure program and we would not have  been able to upgrade it.

Then and only then would it have beeen dead. CFS2 is the only Simulator with a World map. Allowing you create missions in practicaly evey Thearter of World war two.

You can join practicaly every Air Force of that period in history including the Chinese and free Italian air force.

If you just want to fly and test air planes. You can do what they do with the civil flight Simulators and fly from Green to Britain if thats what you wanted to do. Its your option. Is n"t that kool.

You can add planes and sceneries from the other civil flight programs. This only some of the things you can do with it.

Its the only one where you can actualy create real weather conditions when making a missions.

It has hundreds of campaigns and missions to download for it. Many utilities plus perhaps over one thousand plane ready to be install in different hangars.
Almost every ship that use by the Navies of the day. Ground objects and ground troops.

It does have some short comming, but its virtuals far out reach its short commings.

In many ways its the most complete World war 2 sim in the market.

Just imagine if in the sim market their were not a CFS2 program available.

It would surely be a lot poorer for it.

The reason some people would like it see it dead is because for some reason unknown to me they hate the Pacific Theater.

Maybe they fear members will run from the European Theater to the Pacific Theater instead.

Thats absurd and illogical. That will never happen.
Thats what I like best about this Simulator. You can treat World war 2 for what it eally was. A World civil war.

If you get bored with defending London you can change the menu and go and defend Gudacanal for a short campaign untill you are ready to join the RAF again. Now that is very kool.

No CFS2 is not dead and I hope I will never really be dead as it offers to much to the Sim World.

P.S. its the only true Pacific Theater Sim in the Market today. Pacific Fighter is a very good program. But it does not have enough planes or ships to really represent the Pacific Theater adequatly. Its maps are simply to small. Its still a nice program to play around with but if you really want to create a Pacific Theater mission you have to go with CFS2.

I wish Lowengrin would really give us a much improve DCG in the Future.

I hope developers will create more Sim dedicated to the Pacific Theater in the Future.

This has been only a opinion

~S~

I tend to stay out of these conversations - much like all of those 'CFS3 - love it or loath it' threads, they can get out of hand very quickly (and very repetitive)...

Still, that said, and as it's a very boring afternoon while writing up a report for work, I'll throw my two pennyworth in anyway Wink

I loved CFS1 & 2 (the fact that I still come in here to see what's going on seems to testify to this alone! Wink) and devoted more hours than I care to mention to playing them and also seeking ways of getting more out of them via such excellent utilities as TG2, BRH and CFO and trying to build on the work of others far cleverer than myself in order to improve the online experiences of my squadmates with 'alpha' bombers for CFS2 and those dratted 'flyable' ships... Roll Eyes.

I've had great times flying all sorts of aircraft in all sorts of contexts, both online and offline, thanks to skills of the GroundCrewDesign Group, Fox Four, Defence of Australia, and others too numerous to mention.

Unfortunately, while both sims continue to have a very great deal to offer to the offline player, as an online game, I really do think that CFS2 has had it. It was flying online with a squad that really made the games for me, along with the friendships that I made while doing so and the skills and craftiness of our real-life opponents.

For a long time now, the CFS2 rooms in the Zone have been largely deserted at the times I can fly (UK evenings) and the rooms that are available in both CFS1 and 2 are polluted in any case by insidious cheating and underhanded modding. I know there are still some honourable old-hands around that continue to hold up the banner, but they are the rear guard and are fighting, sadly, a losing battle.

It's what finally got me to take the plunge and get involved with the IC Maddox series of Forgotten Battles and Pacific Fighters  - something I'd avoided for a long time, but from which I now get the same kind of excitement and involvement I did in the good old days...

Like I said, just my two pennyworth...

All the best,

Pads

No need to aplogise. Delete it if you wish but it won't remove the thread. Only a mod can do that. I think you can only delete your own posts.

Padser,

I too own Pacific Fighters.  And having spent some time in the PF message bases, I noticed that argument about cheaters in on-line games coming up.  And I do say the argument has merit.  However, I don't play online with any of my WWII simulation games.  Just call it the Walter Mitty in me.  I prefer single player, historically accurate (as much as possible) gaming experience.  I'm just not interested in getting into a furball for it's own sake.  But that's just me.

PF is a good sim, it could have been better.  Too bad Maddox got caught up in the Grumman licensing problem, and I was disapointed in the limited number of ships.  The Akagi looks excellent, but where's the Kaga?  That's my favorite Japanese carrier, and I was disappointed it wasn't there.

But, then again CFS2 has long legs.  No Kaga?  Build one!  Done!

Hmmm. What have you gone & done now? That's messed it right up. Roll Eyes LOL Cheesy

What did you want me to change it to? I think the best thing is for us all to delete our own replies. That will eventually remove the whole thread.

~S~ DC

Some of my best 'Walter Mitty' moments have been with CFS as well.  Smiley

One of the things that my involvement with all of these games has done is to get me interested in the history of it all. Amazon is now a lot richer (and I a lot poorer) as a result! Wink

If you do decide to get online in PF (and I would be very happy to meet you there, Sir) , there are a number of Hyperlobby servers that are very keen on historical accuracy - FA_FISC is a fine early Pacific server, and the ladies and gents of Greatergreen and Zekes vs Wildcats, do stirling work, too. PFs cooperative mission feature is also a great way of setting up scenarios based on real-life events. - something I'm also interested in. I once spent the best part of a week trying to work out the route flown by Mitchell's p-38s on their way to assassinate Yamamoto so that my CFS2 squad could fly it as an online scenario (I should get out more!)

Looking forward to the much heralded 1C BoB game to come out in a year or two, as it is over the Channel in those dark days of 1940 that my heart really lies...

All the best,

Pads

I've been reading the autobiography of Mitsuo Fuchida - as dictated to Gordon Prange.  He spoke of the Yamamoto mission.  In it's aftermath, Fuchida and a few others concluded the Japanese code had been compromized.  He reported it to those responsible for developing and keeping the code, and they scoffed and blew him off.  What a missed opportunity for the Japanese.

Bombadier their is no need for you to apologize. CFS2 is not the only good World war 2 Sim out there. But certainly one of them. I"m not a online Pilot myself. I like Dcunning like to fly historical plausable missions. I understand that Pacific Fighter is a much better online game.

I"m not interested in making this a CFS2 vs PT debate post. I to have both games and I enjoy them both for different reasons.

Its just good once in while to recognize what a good thing one has and show appreciation to those who deserve it.

Dcunning30 yes I meant what I wrote. It would have been dead if it where not for the dedicated developers of this community. CFS2 was a nice Sim out of the box but with to few planes to make it a complete viable long term Sim.

The same thing can be said about most Sims any way.

Bombadier thank for your scenery. Looking forward for your new nigh campaign.

I hope to make this my last post on the subject.

This has been only a opinion
