Okay Kevin then explain two things;
a) Roger (Hawker)
b) Why the P-51 had a Merlin Grin Grin Grin

a)  Roger is that rare Brit who understands power is more desirable than popularity.  The Merlin may be classy, but it would get it's butt kicked in a fistfight with a Griffon.

b)  Because the Allison sucked.  I never said you Brits weren't smart.  Just a little wimpy refined...  Smiley

Think of it this way.  Who would win in a fight;

Bush or Blair?
Monty or Patton?
Churchill or Ike?
Shakespeare or Hemingway?
Margaret Thatcher or Hillary Clinton?

Americans TEND to like Griffons where Brits prefer Merlins.

I rest my case.  Smiley

I'm going to run and hide now...

Blair would avoid the fight, and cunningly join sides in a tag team with George Dubya...

Monty or Patton?

Tough call - he may have looked like a boy scout leader in a beret, but Rommel had other ideas...

Churchill or Ike?

I think even Ike may have backed down on this one, but a close call...

Shakespeare or Hemingway?

Hemingway - you don't need to "translate" his work...

Maggie - she'd get her family connections to rustle up some ex SAS mercanary support in a 727... Wink Grin

MH 367????

Ozzy,
Do you have any info on the Tr9 rebuilt in Florida. Originally started by Dick Melton in the 90's??

I've a good photo from Flypast in June 2003 but not much more. Looked like it was getting ready to fly.

MH367, officailly ex-Fleet Air Arm. Reality is different, converted to Tr.9 spec from a pile of parts and a fuselage from 1993-1997.
Carries markings YT-C at the moment (I think) was brought by Harry Stenger, Bartow FL (USA), restored for Peter Godfrey, Ft Myers FL (USA).
Has the Grace-In-Line style cockpits arrangement with a clear tunnel between the two canopies. Has E type wings with armament, two Hispanos, two .5in MGs.
Anything else you need? I've got a couple of photos of her pre-engine installation and painting if you want them I'll email them Wink

Ozzy,
Just finished the shell of the GIL. Decided to go for the "Red Dragon" SW-A, TP 462 of Anthony Hodgson.
I'll post some pix over the weekend.

Taking some brief time out from the FS9 models to do a quick MkVFloat for CFS2. Will incorporate the "final" design with the MkVIII air filter, as released to Egypt.
Probably MTO camo and markings.

Don't forget the Russian versions have the cockpit further back, it was basically a Mk IX with a cockpit slung on the back. The GIL has the cockpits further forward (13 inches) Wink
