Hello all! Are you ready for another long flight? Well we have one in store for you this weekend!

On Saturday August 20th at 9pm eastern standard time we will depart KBWP (WAHPETON, NORTH DAKOTA, USA) and fly to, KSGS South Paul minnesota

Since this flight will be approximately 171 nautical miles I would recommend a small twin like the Beechcraft Baron, or something similar. I myself will probably be flying the newly released Piper Aztec by Bill Lyons.. Smiley

Here's where we have been thus far:
...

For general answer please refer to the general question thread:
http://www.simviation.com/cgi-bin/yabb/YaBB.cgi?board=Multi;action=displ ay;num=1123882151

Please remember to let us know if you will be coming and give us a heads up your skype name so we can give you a call when it comes time to go flying..

Hope to see you there,

Jared

I booked a room for tonight at the American Inn Inver Grove Heights in South St. Paul ... not too bad... about $80.00 before tax.  Only a mile or so from the airport.  Hope we don't get in too late.  But it has limo service from the airport... so I guess it doesn't matter too much really.

I noted on the charts that our destination airport..... KSGS....... is a one runway airport (34/16 left pattern) nestled in the suburbs of the city near the river with no control tower... but it does have a STAR.  Smiley

ILS is on Rwy 34 on 108.35 ID- ISGS.  Nearest VOR is Farmington on 115.70 ID- FGT.

Watch the helio activity and the darn geese.

I'm looking at KFCM (Flying Cloud) as a weather alternate, if needed.

See everyone soon.

best,

.......................john

PS:  Downloaded the two aircraft that you mentioned so I can see you in the rightt planes.  Wink

I looked at the possible flight plan.  Did a GPS direct route and then found some intersections that are just about exactly on the straight line course to give some intermediate waypoints.

KBWP.WUNYE.VOCAB.CAQKIV.KSGS

Also.... we cross into Minn/St. Paul Class B airspace just before we arrive at our destination.  Good VFR landmarks are crossing over Maple Lake Municipal airport then Buffllo Lake on the right and Lake Pulaski on the left.  A few minutes after that ..... we hit the airspace.

I'll be flying the Baron Turbo too that Ben mentioned.

Katahu,

Don't know?  It's 171 nm for fuel range.... not counting wind issues.  The big thing is to have all of us at a similar cruise speed capability.  The Turbo Baron cruise is 220 knots I think.

Obviously we can adjust a bit...... but we can't go faster than the slowest plane.  If the average speed is 170 knots...... it'll take an hour in the air.  We try to run between 1 hour and 2 hours for the total flight.  This will be a longish one to start with..... so we'll be pushing toward the "2 hour limit" after the setup and taxiing and such.

See the other thread Jared mentioned a the top for more info.

Hope you can be there.  Don;t forget Skype too... if you can .  It is a simple and fast install.  Jared can coach you.

best,

....john
