I try this game every 6 months and I've yet to get it flying smooth.  I keep getting stutters in the frame rate, you know where you're just about to squeeze the trigger on a JU-88 and all of a sudden the game stops for two seconds, then starts again with the Ju-88 just passing!

I would really like to get this game working as it is quite different than IL-2 (works fine) and looks intresting.  I have Firepower add on which doesn't effect the stutter one way or another, but does add to the investment in the game$.
The config recognizes my card.

Any suggestions or pointers would be really nice.

Thanks!

The No-CD utillity here on simviation also helps for me.
Also look for the tree FAQ here on this forum.

I still have some occasional stutters when lots of aircraft are in the air, but it is a lot better then original.
You will still have to find out wich things work for your system the best, it seems they work different on each system.

There is a file somewhere at sim-outhouse called preload.xml that is supposed to help by loading more sounds before you start the game.  Turning down the clouds, disabling terrain and scenery lighting, and disabling shadows will usually help too*.  You can also try disabling dual pass rendering and turning on  high resoluting z-buffer in CFS3 Config.

*always change these settings from CFS3 config

My third link points at that preload.xml

Exit CFS3 config by exit and not by clicking on the cross in the upper right corner
