Yes indeed Ken, the F-18 does use the F-404 engine !

Ah yes, but you do have another fine engine in your sig........the infamous J-58........used to great effect by Kelly Johnson .

Indeed...one of the most extraordinary engines ever made. After reading several books about the SR-71, I almost know every bit about this power unit and everytime, it surprises me more and more. Those guys from P&W did an amazing job by making this thing...all this in the late fifties, don't forget that!  8)

It is indeed interesting what they were capable of doing even back then! Smiley

One of the guys the owner hired in as president at my factory was part of the blackbird project in the design section for the landing gear system.. Smiley Never did get enough time with him before they fired him to hear some interesting stories, he was a character now, I would hate to see him and kelly johnson in the same room together!
