What? a second BMW on the driveway? and a Ford Galaxy? You won the lottery Scania?
This means no more compassion with you my friend!
Seriously... O still think that 7 series looks waaaay better than the current one, even after the latest face-lift... Not to mention the unbelievable boring new 3-series...
You got style Paul... you really have!
Cheers,
Kris

Alas,no lottery win, remember, its a large fuel heavy car, and, its 7 years old. what was literally £40k new is mine for £5k plus my old & much abused 3 Series in part exchange.
It was this or a 3 year old Ford / Vauxhall etc a no brainer in my view.
The other 3 is my Mums, the Galaxy, my Sisters Husbands company car.
Style ? I'm a truck driver!!! What does "Style" mean ?

Yes, I have, the "PDC" part is my initials, I've also bought a "personal number plate" for it!

Good idea bluring out the numbers Woozy, some criminal see's it, they could easily copy it for a fake plate.
Nice Paul, how come they are pretty cheap? i was looking at some prices and even upto 95/96 you could get some good ones under £2000

Its the Big Car, Huge running Costs Image = Massive depreciation Craig.
I paid £5000 for mine, its 98,000 warrented miles, with a fully verifyable service & ownership history, in other words, its a straight car, its also had an HPI check, and I bought it from a reputable dealer, with an extendable warranty, various jobs put right, 4 new (Very large & expensive) Bridgestone Tyres, its easy to see where thet get their £5k price. (Plus my old 318i in part exchange.) the "Screen" price, the one you NEVER pay
was £5999. "Supposedly, I got £999 for my 318i, I know damn well, as does the dealer, its really worth £500. (it is a 1992 after all.)
Now then, get an early 1995 or so 730i / 740i, it could easily have been to the moon & back, with no verifyable history, its a potential money pit, hence, the price plumets.
Believe me though, I've looked at quiter a few £2500 > £6000 e38 7 Series cars, the differences where astounding, and the number of them with dubious history was equally interesting to research! - AA car history checks.....
I was going to chance a £3k 7 series, but, now realising just how potentially expensive these cars could be to repair, especially if more than one thing decides to break at the same time, I decided to take the wiser option of spending more money on a better car, with a garage & warranty to fall back on, I hasten to add though, I bought my previous 318i @ 125,000 miles and it ran faultlessly for 45,000 of the 55,000miles I ran it for with routine servicing, over the last year & 10,000miles (I kept it 3 years) it did start to cost alot, but the mileage was nearing 177,000+ on a small 1.8 engined car, the clutch however, was the same one that it left the factory with!!!
So far, I'm very glad I did so.
I returned to a garage with an 1998 e38 740i - £3500! - very cheap by comparison to mine....they claim low mileage, 6 previous owner car! - a few too many for a start! I was looking at before I bought mine,This garage had a car with supposedly, 120k Miles. My car has covered 98k miles & looks pretty much new. Very little noticable wear on pedals etc, the wheel isn't worn through, for example!
The 740i by direct comparison looked about 5 years older with blatantly obhvious signs of heavy useage.
If that car by comparison to mine is supposed to have done only 130k miles, its either being owned by a neanderthal or, and much more likely 3 careful owners and 2 or 3 neanderthal's !!! - Over I'd guess anything upto 300k miles.....
Great cars if you get a good one, a Clocked BMW with no
history is a dangerous financial prospect, many of my friends have learned this the hard way.
Fingers crossed with mine.

I would like to own one, but alas at my age insurance and poor paying job opportunities make it impossible. I do hope yours serves you well for many a year:) And good choice on tyres

Forgot to mention, I researched exactly what to expect to get for my money & mileage....
http://www.whatcar.com/Valuations_Result.asp?MA=7&MV=23771&ED=6399&UP=1579106&mi...
Shows I did'nt really get much in real terms for my old 318i
in part exchange!
- I wish I'd sold it privately, alas, no time!
