Hello all...!

.....no....It's not me, bragging again...Wink...!
LOL...Grin...!

As an all-round musician and enthusiastic keyboard player, including the organ, I wonder if any of our members live in Philadelphia, or have visited there to view the largest organ in the world...
The magnificent Wanamaker Pipe Organ housed in the massive Wanamaker department store building.

I listened to a BBC radio program recently, where the resident organist was interviewed to discuss the instrument and to play some examples of its spine tingling  sounds...!

For anyone interested in the instrument, its specification and surroundings, take a peek here...>>>

Cheers fellow musicians...!

Impressive stuff ...... and there's nothing like a pipe organ to rattle your boots.

I'm not sure but I think the longest organ stop is still held by the 64ft pipe in the Sydney Opera House.

You don't hear the note from this pipe ........ you feel it.

I had no idea...and  I love pipe organs. I'll have to go to Philly sometime to have a look at that thing...and maybe listen to it. Who knows? Maybe they'll let me try to summon up the few bars of Bach's thingamabob in BFlat Major that I still sort of remember...
And I'm bringing my Shetland pony!! Grin

Paul - I always knew you were an artist!

I recently lived for a year in Philly (that's where I was when I joined SimViation) but to my shame, I never did two things - I didn't go to the Kimmel Center to hear the Philadelphia Orchestra play, and the second was not to go to Wanamakers to see the organ.

Saw the Liberty Bell - doesn't work - it's cracked....

Wink
